Yesterday, at its last Keynote of the year, Apple presented a trio of new computers with its own M1 processors. Among the newly introduced models was the significantly improved MacBook Air, which, among other novelties, also boasts an improved keyboard.

At first glance, this is a small change, but it is very useful for users - the number of function keys on the keyboard of this year's MacBook Air with the M1 processor is newly enriched with keys for activating Do Not Disturb mode, activating Spotlight and activating voice input. However, the number of function keys is still the same - the mentioned keys were introduced in the new MacBook Air as a replacement for the keys used to activate the Launchpad and control the brightness level of the keyboard backlight. While the removal of the key for launching the Launchpad probably won't bother most users, the absence of keys for adjusting the keyboard backlight could mean considerable discomfort for many people, and it will probably take some time for new owners of this year's MacBook Air with M1 to get used to this change. An icon with a globe image has also been added to the keyboard of the new MacBook Air, on the fn button.

The new MacBook Air with the M1 processor offers up to 15 hours of web browsing or 18 hours of video playback, twice the speed of the SSD, faster CoreML operation and, thanks to the absence of an active cooler, it is very quiet. This apple laptop is also equipped with a Touch ID module and supports Wi-Fi 6. It also offers a FaceTime camera with a face detection function and a 13″ display with support for the P3 color gamut. On the other hand, the keyboard of this year's MacBook Pro with the M1 processor has not undergone any changes - a number of function keys have been replaced by a Touch Bar, which handles a number of functions, but the above-mentioned globe icon is not missing.
