Samsung is clearly the king of the flexible phone market. It is this South Korean giant that has ensured the considerable popularization of flexible devices, namely smartphones. Samsung clearly dominates with its Galaxy Z series, which consists of a pair of models – Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. The very first model was already on the market in 2020. It is therefore not surprising that since then fans have been wondering when Apple or other manufacturers will also get involved in the waters of flexible smartphones. For now, Samsung has virtually no competition.

Although there have been countless leaks and speculations over the past few years that the release of a flexible iPhone was practically around the corner, nothing of the sort actually happened. Well, at least for now. On the contrary, we know for sure that Apple is at least toying with the idea itself. This is confirmed by a number of patents that the Cupertino giant has registered in recent years. But the original question still applies. When will we actually see the arrival of a flexible iPhone?

Apple and flexible devices

As we mentioned above, there is a lot of speculation surrounding the development of a flexible iPhone. However, according to the latest information, Apple does not even have ambitions to bring a flexible smartphone to the market, on the contrary. Apparently, it should focus on a completely different segment. This theory has been working for a long time and is confirmed by several respected sources. So one important thing clearly follows from this. Apple doesn't have that much confidence in the flexible smartphone segment and is instead trying to find alternatives to use this technology. That's why speculation began among Apple fans about flexible iPads and Macs.

Recently, however, everything is beginning to be thrown into chaos. While Ming-Chi Kuo, one of the most respected and accurate analysts, claims that Apple is working on the development of a redesigned flexible iPad and we will soon see its launch, other experts refute the claim. For example, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman or display analyst Ross Young, on the contrary, shared that a later release of a flexible Mac is planned. According to them, the iPad is not discussed at all in Apple's internal circles. Of course, speculations from different sources can always vary. However, speculations are starting to appear among Apple fans that even Apple is not clear about the direction it is taking and therefore still does not have any firm plan.

When will we wait?

For this reason, the same question still applies. When will Apple decide to introduce the first flexible device? Although no one knows the exact date for now, it is more or less clear that we will still have to wait for something like this. We are probably a long time away from a flexible iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Big question marks also hang over whether such products even make sense. Although these are conceptually quite interesting devices, they may not be so successful in sales, which the technological giants are very well aware of. Would you like a flexible Apple device? Alternatively, which model would be your favorite?
