Due to the ever-spreading epidemic of COVID-19, it is recommended to avoid places where a large number of people move. Events where there are 100 people are immediately prohibited. For many, this means that they will spend their free time mainly at home with books, television, board games or even video games. Streaming platforms for movies and series are also very popular, and we will focus on them in today's article. We will present you not only the most well-known services, but also lesser-known options for playing movies and series.
How to choose the right service for playing movies and series?
It is impossible to choose just one best online video rental company. And that's mainly because everyone likes different movies/series and unfortunately there is no way to legally have most of the content in one place. Individual services have exclusive contracts, create their own titles, etc. Fortunately, there are already options to quickly go through the offer of individual companies. And even from the point of view of Czech language support, which can greatly facilitate choosing the right service for you. It's about the web filmtoro.cz, which groups all series, documentaries and movies online.
On the page you will find information not only about the film, but mainly where it can be played and whether it supports the Czech language. This way you can get an idea of which service you like the most. In the end, you may find that you don't even have to pay anything, because you can get by with free movies and series. Filmtoro also has available application on the AppStore.
Netflix
We probably don't need to introduce this service to most of you. It offers a large number of series/films and quite a few of its own productions. In the fall of 2019, the company also launched a Czech version, which manifested itself not only in the Czech user environment, but also in greater support for Czech subtitles and dubbing. This is a paid service, the basic subscription costs CZK 199/month, the Premium version costs CZK 319/month.
HBO GO
It works similar to Netflix, also offers films and series, including its own production and the Czech environment. One of the advantages over Netflix may be better support for Czech subtitles and dubbing for some. The price, which is 159 CZK/month, can be a plus for some.
Apple TV +
Apple's online subscription was launched in the fall of 2019. Compared to the services mentioned above, the difference is that you won't find licensed third-party content here. Apple is directly behind each title. The lower price of CZK 139/month also depends on this. In addition, there is still a promotion that if you buy an iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Apple TV or Mac, you will receive a year's subscription for free.
Amazon Prime Video
There is also a rental shop from Amazon, which is also officially available in the Czech Republic. As for the content, there is a combination of own and licensed creations. A minor minus can be the absence of Czech, when the vast majority of films lack at least subtitles. Until February 2020, there was also a special price for new users of 3 euros/month for half a year. Since March, however, the price has been classically 5,99 euros (approx. 155 CZK) per month.
iTunes & Google Play
If you prefer to buy a movie or borrow it for a short time. Both Apple and Google have solutions for you. In the app store, there is also a section with movies and series, where you can buy a large number of them. They often feature newer movies, and there are also various discounted packages. Among other things, we inform about them at Apple pickers.
YouTube
Some may be surprised by YouTube, but even on this server you can find quite a few movies legally and in excellent quality. In addition, the large majority are with Czech dubbing. Below you will find links to some of the channels where these films are offered:
- FILMS IN CZECH AND FOR FREE
- KoukeYTe - Full Movies for Free
- Czech film classic
- Movies in Czech
- VOREL FILM official channel
iBroadcasting
You will also find many series, films and documentaries on the Internet broadcast of Czech Television. They are of course available in Czech and free of charge. If you didn't catch a movie on TV, there's a pretty good chance that you'll catch it in a few weeks iBroadcasting.
You missed Stream Cinema CZ/SK, the service that is the best without competition in the Czech Republic...

Don't miss out, we do not support Stream Cinema CZ/SK and similar services. For the same reason, sites that offer illegal content for playback are also not on the list.
