You may need it, for example, to find out the validity of the warranty, or perhaps when taking the device for service, when it is useful to know the serial number, especially in order not to confuse your device with another one. Whatever the reason for finding the serial number on your Apple product, this guide will help you find it.

Device settings

If you are looking for the serial number of your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or macOS device and you have trouble-free access to the device, i.e. if the display is working and the device can be controlled, then the procedure is simple. Just follow the steps below according to your device:

iPhone and iPad

If you are looking for the serial number of your iPhone or iPad, proceed as follows:

  • Open the native app Settings.
  • Go to the section In general.
  • Click on the box here Information.
  • The serial number will appear in one of the first lines.

Apple Watch

If you are looking for the serial number of your Apple Watch, proceed as follows:

  • On Apple Watch, press digital crown.
  • In the application menu, find and click on it Settings.
  • Here, tap on the option In general.
  • Then choose an option Information.
  • The serial number appears in the bottom of the display.

iTunes or Finder

You can find the serial number of your iPhone or iPad even after connecting the device to a computer or Mac. If you want to find the serial number on your computer, connect your device to iTunes. Then launch it and move to the section with your connected device. Here, the serial number will already appear in the upper part. The procedure is the same for macOS, only you have to launch Finder instead of iTunes. Here, just click on the connected device in the left menu and the serial number will appear.

Invoice from the device

If you are unable to turn on the device and enter the settings, or if the controls do not work for you and at the same time if you do not have the original box from the device because you threw it away, then you have one last option, namely an invoice or a receipt. In addition to the type of device, most sellers also add its serial number to the invoice or receipt. So try looking at the invoice or receipt from your device and see if you can't find the serial number there.

Device body

If you own an iPad or macOS device, you have a win in a way, even if the device doesn't work at all. You can find the serial number of these devices on the back of the device - in the case of an iPad, in the lower part, in the case of a MacBook, near the upper cooling outlet. Unfortunately, in the case of an iPhone, you won't find the serial number on the back - for older iPhones, you'll only find the IMEI here.

But the good news is that the IMEI can also be used as an identification number, which is again a unique and unique number that the operator stores in the register of mobile devices. You can find the IMEI on the back of some older iPhones, in addition to the device boxes and sometimes on invoices or receipts.
