BAFTA stands for British Academy of Film and Television Arts. At yesterday's 69th awards ceremony, Kate Winslet won Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Joanna Hoffman in the film Steve Jobs.

It was the only win out of three nominations for the film directed by Danny Boyle and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin. The other two were in the categories "best actor in a leading role" (Michael Fassbender) and "best adapted screenplay" (Aaron Sorkin). In these categories, BAFTA awards were won by Leonardo DiCaprio for the film The Revenant and Adam McKay and Charles Randolph for the film T.

Kate Winslet previously for her role in Steve Jobs won a Golden Globe, the "London Film Critics Circle" award and was nominated for an Oscar, as well as Michael Fassbender for his portrayal of Steve Jobs. In the film, Winslet plays Joanna Hoffman, a marketing executive who worked on Jobs' team to develop the Macintosh and the NeXT computer. She is known as one of the few people who was able to stand up to Jobs and get her way, which the film focuses on and gives her much more space than she actually had. She only worked with Jobs for five years, while the film suggests fourteen.

In her acceptance speech, Kate Winslet mentioned the director and his atypical approach of dividing the filming for three periods of rehearsals and filming itself. She went on to highlight the work of Aaron Sorkin, Michael Fassbender and the rest of the cast and crew. She described Joanna Hoffman as a devoted and loyal friend of Steve Jobs and thanked her for her willingness to consult before filming.

The most anticipated remaining film awards are the Academy Awards, which will be presented on February 28. The movie Steve Jobs has the aforementioned two irons in the fire.
