Yesterday afternoon we witnessed the sending of invitations to the expected September conference this year. Given that several pieces of information related to this conference appeared, yesterday we decided to exceptionally skip the IT summary. Today, however, we correct this and come up with a classic IT summary, in which we look together at the news that took place in the world of information technology in the past day. In today's roundup, we'll look together at how the Apple vs. Fortnite in favor of the apple company, and then we take a look at the new feature that Waze is coming with. Let's get straight to the point.

Case card Apple vs. Fortnite has turned around

It has been several weeks since we were informed that the game studio Epic Games violated the rules of the Apple App Store, as a result of which the popular game Fortnite was removed from it. Epic Games broke the rules by adding a direct payment method to Fortnite, through which players could purchase the premium currency V-BUCKS cheaper than if they used the classic payment method from the App Store. Given that Apple charges a 30% share of every purchase in the App Store, the Epic Games studio also came up with a lower price for its own payment method. But this is quite expectedly prohibited and developers simply cannot bypass this rule. As a result, Apple removed Fortnite from the App Store and began the classic process of giving Epic Games 14 days to fix the error. However, this did not happen, due to which the developer account of the Epic Games studio was deleted from the App Store. At the beginning of the case, Epic Games sued Apple for abuse of monopoly position. Meanwhile, other circumstances and news appeared, which we informed you about in past summaries.

So at the moment, the situation was that Apple was still willing to accept Fortnite back on the App Store in the event that the mentioned payment method was fixed. Epic Games was determined to fight for a long time and did not want to back down at any cost, anyway, this studio had no choice but to back down. Of course, it didn't go without another dig, with Epic Games stating that it considers suing Apple to be the right thing to do, which would have happened sooner or later anyway. Epic Games said that it has lost up to 60% of players from Apple platforms, and that it cannot afford to lose more. But in the end, returning Fortnite to the App Store will not be as simple as it might seem. In return, Apple sued Epic Games and is asking to be paid the lost profit it lost after Epic Games added its own payment method to Fortnite. For now, it is not clear what amount Apple Epic Games will ask for, in any case, it should not be anything (for these companies) dizzying. So, if Epic Games pays the lost profit, then we could wait for the game Fortnite in the App Store again. But we will have to wait a few more weeks, specifically until September 28, when the court proceedings will take place, during which everything will hopefully be resolved.

Apple prohibits Fortnite from using Sign in with Apple

Despite the fact that in the last paragraph we lured you to the possible return of Fortnite to the App Store, nothing is certain. Epic Games can still refuse to pay the apple company the lost profit, so Apple will not have a single reason to return the game to the App Store. A few days ago, Epic Games unexpectedly lost its developer account in the App Store, and Apple wants to further insure itself in case there are further disagreements with the studio. Today, Epic Games announced on its Twitter that the Apple company is canceling the option of signing in to a game account using Sign in with Apple on September 11. This is a classic option for logging in, which is similar to, for example, Facebook or Google. So Epic Games is asking users to check if they have access to their emails and passwords so they don't lose their accounts. Of course, if everything is settled in court, Sign in with Apple will return to Fortnite - but we can't predict the future, so we won't draw any conclusions for now.

If you also use your mobile phone for navigation, you are most likely using Waze or Google Maps. It should be noted that Waze is significantly different from other navigation applications – users here create a kind of social network in which they warn each other about dangers on the road, convoys, police patrols and others. Of course, Google, which owns the Waze navigation app, is constantly developing this app to keep up. In addition to its mobile app, Waze also offers a web interface for computers. This interface is much clearer thanks to larger computer screens, so users use it precisely to plan trips and various trips. Today, within this interface, we received a new function where users can easily plan a route, and then move it directly to the mobile application with a few taps. This is a great feature that can make the whole app easier to use. The procedure for "forwarding" a route from the web interface to the mobile application can be found below.
