In the last quarter, Apple brought more than 20 million dollars to the fight against AIDS. This amount was collected for charitable purposes thanks to the donation of a part of the sales in physical and online stores and makes up a full fifth of the total amount that Apple has so far donated to the fight against the fatal syndrome.

This year's World AIDS Day was historically special for Apple. While the Product (RED) campaign presented by the Californian company meant only the sale of a few red-decorated products for the time being, this year all other products sold by Apple stood alongside red accessories and iPods. Apple on December 1st dedicated a portion of all sales in brick-and-mortar and online stores goes to charity.

The presentation of a special section of the App Store was unique, in which a number of more and less well-known applications were presented temporarily wrapped in Product (RED) guise. Among them we could also find classic applications such as Angry Birds, Threes!, Paper by 53 or Clear. Sales of software from the App Store brought money to the campaign not only on December 1, but also in the following days.

According to Apple, this year's initiative brought an unprecedented amount to the campaign. "I am very pleased to announce that our contribution this quarter will be more than $20 million, the highest ever in the company's history," Tim Cook wrote in a letter to his employees. With this contribution, according to him, the total amount after the end of this quarter will rise to more than 100 million dollars. “The money we raised saves lives and brings hope to people in need. It's something we can all be proud to support," Cook added, hinting that we can expect Apple to continue to support Product (RED).
