Many of you probably use the native Calendar on Mac. It offers a lot of useful functions, is easy to operate, and features a clear, simple user interface. If you would like to use the native Calendar on your Mac even more effectively, you can be inspired by our five tips and tricks today.

Adding new calendars

You can also connect your other calendars to the native Calendar on your Mac - for example, Google Calendar. Connecting a new calendar is not difficult, just click Calendar -> Accounts on the toolbar at the top of your Mac screen while Calendar is running, select an account and follow the instructions on the monitor. In addition to Google Calendar, Calendar on Mac offers support for Exchange, Yahoo, and other accounts.

Synchronization

However, by default, calendars are synchronized every 15 minutes, which may not suit everyone. If you want events in linked calendars to update more often, click Calendar -> Preferences on the toolbar at the top of your Mac screen. In the upper part of the preferences window, click on the Accounts tab, for the selected account, click the drop-down menu under Update calendar and select the desired interval.

Delegation

Native Calendar from Apple allows, among other things, sharing on the selected calendar. You can thus create a common calendar for other family members, colleagues or even friends. To add another administrator to the selected calendar, click Calendar -> Preferences on the toolbar. At the top of the preferences window, click the Accounts tab, then select the calendar you want. Click on Delegation, then on the bottom right, click on Edit, and finally, after clicking on the "+" button, you can add more users. Only some calendars support the Delegation function.

Sharing

You can also share your calendars to read, so the recipient will know when you have what event. To share a selected calendar, first launch the native Calendar and then select the calendar you want to share in the panel on the left side of the application window. Right-click the calendar name, choose Share Calendar, and then set all the sharing details.

Access from anywhere

Native Calendar offers automatic synchronization across your devices, so you can view it not only from a Mac, but also from an iPad or iPhone. But what to do when you need to look at the calendar, but you don't have any of your Apple devices at hand? If you have access to any web browser, just type icloud.com into it. After signing in to your iCloud account, you can conveniently use the online version of the native Calendar here.
