If you like to read articles on smart home solutions in our magazine, especially those "from my pen", you certainly know that I am a big supporter of solutions Philips Hue. I myself decided for them as part of the reconstruction of my apartment as the main source of smart lighting, and even after a good year of use, I cannot praise this choice, on the contrary - the enthusiasm is growing more and more. It was all the more surprising for me personally when one of my colleagues in the editorial office recently asked me why he should want something similar. The reasons are obvious on the one hand, but actually inconspicuous on the other.

When the word "smart home" is mentioned, it seems to me that many people immediately think of primarily controlling everything via a mobile phone. However, the truth is, from my experience, that controlling home accessories via a smartphone is more of a secondary matter and it is completely logical as a result. Of course, no one wants you to uncomfortably reach into your bag for your phone when you come home in the evening instead of the classic wall switches and light up your home with it. In my opinion, a smart home is much more about automating classic tasks so that you simply don't have to think about them, or to make them as pleasant as possible for you to use, which Philips Hue meets the criteria. Its lighting products can be perfectly automated either through the native Home or Hue application from the manufacturer, and on the other hand, you can even set adaptive lighting with them, where the temperature of the light changes according to the time of day, which is simply great for me. In the evening, a person shines with a warm, eye-pleasing light, while at midday with white, natural light for the given time of day.

It's also great that you don't have to rely only on automation within the application and the like, but connect the entire Hue system with sensors and switches also from the Hue series, which both look great and work brilliantly with smart lighting. In addition, they can be set up very easily exactly according to your requirements, which is also a big plus. After all, I myself use the Philips Hue Dimmer Switch v2 controller at home instead of classic switches, and I cannot praise them enough for their design and functionality. Of course, lights from other brands can also be connected to various sensors and so on, but these are usually electronics from other brands, which brings with it, for example, difficulties with pairing, unstable connection or at least the need to install an additional application on the phone.

However, the Hue system offers far more similar gadgets - without any exaggeration, so many that I could probably write a book about them. For example, what would you say to the fact that the light in the toilet at night only shines at a certain intensity and in a certain color, so that in the event of a night visit to the toilet, you do not get too confused when the light is turned on? Or are you tempted by the automatic switching on of certain lights when you arrive home, which are then turned off after a certain period of time? And what about turning on the lights at sunset or, conversely, turning them off at sunrise? The problem is not with anything - that is, at least of a technical nature. The technical support available, among other things, on social networks, which will gladly advise you in case of problems, is also exemplary, which I recently tried myself - you can find more in this article.

It must be added that Philips Hue products have a higher price. However, it is necessary to realize that it is backed by a renowned manufacturer and that it is a very high-quality product that can simply be relied on. Quite frankly, no other brand offers more for the price than Hue in terms of functionality, breadth of portfolio, design, support and other such things. The price can be added thanks current cashback promotion reduce quite significantly - specifically, when buying Hue products over CZK 6000, you will get CZK 1000 back, which is definitely not a little. I'm just warning you in advance - building a smart home is incredibly addictive, and as soon as you step into this river, you'll spend your free time thinking about what else you can "smarten" at home. And that is perhaps the most beautiful thing about it all.
