The digital compass in the iPhone has been excellently used since the first moments in Google Maps, when it helps you to orient yourself on the map faster and better. But have you often asked what next? Gradually interesting applications will be released, and today let's take a look, for example, at the use of a digital compass from game developers Ziconic in the iPhone game AirCoaster 3D.

They combined the use of an accelerometer and a digital compass and thus created a very interesting project. Thanks to this, in their roller coaster simulator AirCoaster 3D, you can freely look around all around, just tilt the iPhone or rotate it in space.

While this isn't a game (or app) you absolutely need, it can certainly open your eyes to the fact that a digital compass doesn't have to be just for navigation. On the contrary, digital compass can make for much more exciting projects, and that's exactly what I've been saying since the beginning. I'm really excited to see what the developers come up with!

And there is one more news about the AirCoaster. Have you doubted the speed of the new iPhone? The same developers tried a non-optimized version of AirCoaster 3D on both iPhones, and you can see the difference in the video. The new iPhone 3G S was up to 4x faster in processing this more complex scene. If you would like AirCoaster 3D, you can have it buy in the Appstore for €0,79. However, it does not currently support digital compass.
