For several years, Apple fans have been talking about the arrival of an AR/VR headset from the Cupertino giant's workshop. Especially in recent months, this is a rather hot topic, on which leakers and analysts share new information. But let's put all the speculation aside for now and let's focus on something else. Specifically, the question arises as to what such a headset could actually be used for, or what target group Apple is targeting with this product. There are several options and we have to admit that each of them has something in it.

Current offer

There are currently several similar headsets from different manufacturers available on the market. Of course, we have at our disposal, for example, Valve Index, PlayStation VR, HP Reverb G2, or even the standalone Oculus Quest 2. At the same time, all of them focus primarily on the gaming segment, where they allow their users to experience video games in completely different dimensions. In addition, it is not for nothing that it is said among players of VR titles that those who have not tasted something similar cannot even properly appreciate it. Gaming, or playing games, is not the only way of use. Headsets can also be used for a number of other activities, which are definitely worth it for the narration alone.

Virtually anything can be done in the world of virtual reality. And when we say anything, we really mean anything. Today, solutions are available for, for example, playing musical instruments, meditation, or you can go straight to the cinema or a concert with your friends and virtually watch your favorite content together. It should also be noted that the virtual reality segment is still more or less in its infancy and it will definitely be interesting to see where it will move in the coming years.

What will Apple focus on?

Currently, the question arises as to which segment Apple will target. At the same time, the earlier statement of one of the most popular analysts, Ming-Chi Kuo, plays an interesting role, according to which Apple wants to use its headset to replace classic iPhones within ten years. But this statement must be taken with a certain margin, that is, at least now, in 2021. A slightly more interesting idea was brought by the editor of Bloomberg, Mark Gurman, according to which Apple will focus on three segments at the same time - gaming, communication and multimedia. When we look at the whole matter from a wider perspective, this focus will make the most sense.

If, on the other hand, Apple focused on only one segment, it would lose a number of potential users. In addition, his own AR/VR headset is supposed to be powered by a high-performance Apple Silicon chip, which is now undisputed thanks to the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, and will also offer a high-quality display for viewing content. Thanks to this, it will be possible not only to play high-quality game titles, but also to enjoy other VR content at the same time or to establish a completely new era of video conferences and calls, which will take place in the virtual world.

When will the apple headset come

Unfortunately, a number of question marks still hang over the arrival of Apple's AR/VR headset. Not only is it not certain what the device will actually be used for in detail, but at the same time the date of its arrival is also uncertain. For now, respected sources are talking about 2022. However, it is necessary to take into account that the world is now dealing with a pandemic, but at the same time, the problem with the global shortage of chips and other materials is starting to deepen.
