Of course, Bluetooth isn't just in iOS devices. On the contrary, it has a relatively wide range of uses, especially when it comes to various peripherals.
Internet tethering
Probably the most well-known use of Bluetooth is for tethering - sharing an Internet connection. If you have a SIM card and Internet enabled in your iOS device, you can conveniently share your connection with your computer or any other device via Bluetooth (or Wi-Fi or USB).
Internet sharing can be achieved through the Personal Hotspot item in Settings. We turn on Bluetooth, activate Personal Hotspot, set a password, pair the iOS device with the computer, write down the verification code, connect the iOS device and we're done. Of course, Personal Hotspot also works via Wi-Fi or a data cable.
Connecting a keyboard, headsets, headphones or speakers
Using Bluetooth, we can connect all kinds of accessories to iPhones, iPads and iPods. They support technology keyboard, headsets, headphones i speakers. You just need to choose the right type. There is, of course, another series of peripherals – watches, cars to control, external GPS navigation.
Gaming multiplayer
iOS applications and iOS games themselves also use Bluetooth. If your favorite game allows you to play in multiplayer mode, you can use Bluetooth technology to pair your device. An example might be a favorite game Flight Control (iPad version), which you can play across all iOS devices.
Application communication
It's not just games though. For example, applications transferring images (from iOS to iOS / from iOS to Mac) and other data communicate with each other via Bluetooth.
Bluetooth 4.0
As we already are previously reported, the iPhone 4S came with a new version of Bluetooth 4.0. The biggest advantage should be the low energy consumption, and we can expect that the "quad" Bluetooth will gradually spread to other iOS devices as well. For now, it is supported not only by the iPhone 4S, but also by the latest MacBook Air and Macy mini. In addition to lower demands on the battery, data transfer between individual devices should also be faster.
