You might not have even noticed, and we certainly won't be mad at you for it. Apple offered several plans for its music streaming platform Apple Music, among which was the voice one. He announced it on October 18, 2021 and has now cut it. Several factors are responsible for this, which do not put him in a good light.

The Apple Music Voice Plan was compatible with any Siri-enabled device that could play music from the platform. This means that these devices include iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, HomePod, CarPlay and even AirPods. It provided full access to the Apple Music catalog, but with many conditions. With it, you could ask Siri to play any song in your library or play any of the available playlists or radio stations. The choice of songs was not limited in any way.

But you couldn't use Apple Music's graphical interface with it - neither in iOS nor in macOS or elsewhere, and you had to access the entire catalog only and only with the help of Siri. So if you wanted to play the latest song from a given artist, instead of navigating the user interface in the iPhone's Music app, you had to call up Siri and tell her your request. This plan didn't even offer listening to Dolby Atmos surround sound, lossless music, watching music videos or, logically, song lyrics.

For all this, Apple wanted $5 a month. Logically, it had a limited distribution, which was also dependent on the availability of Siri. So Voice Plan was available in Australia, Austria, Canada, Mainland China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, Taiwan, United Kingdom and United States, not here . This attempt by Apple to popularize its voice assistant and in general to control something only with the help of the voice did not work again, in the case of music, for the second time.

The iPod Shuffle clearly showed where the path was not going

Voice Plan wasn't primarily intended for iPhones or Macs, so much as it was for HomePods. But Apple tried to control the music device by voice already in 2009, when it introduced the 3rd generation iPod Shuffle. But the interesting product did not succeed, because people simply do not want to talk about electronics then and now. A successor arrived in 2010, which already had the hardware buttons back. Now Apple has tried again and again and failed. However, if the death of the iPod as such may make someone sad, the Voice Plan will certainly not be missed by anyone.

Its termination is a shame, especially from the point of view that Apple wanted to popularize Siri in it. We hear about artificial intelligence on a daily basis and instead of society trying to improve it, it seems to be the opposite trend.
