Apple made several changes to its top management before the end of the year. Jeff Williams was promoted to COO, and Chief Marketing Officer Phil Schiller took over App Story. Johny Srouji also joined the top managers.

Jeff Williams previously held the position of Senior Vice President of Operations. He has now been promoted to Chief Operating Officer (COO), but this is likely to be mainly a change in the name of his position, which more accurately reflects his position at Apple, rather than gaining any additional powers.

After Tim Cook became CEO, Jeff Williams gradually took over his agenda and it is often said that Williams is Cook's Tim Cook. It is the current head of Apple who was chief operating officer under Steve Jobs for many years and successfully managed the company's supply and production chain.

Williams, which has been in Cupertino since 1998, is similarly capable now in operation. Since 2010, he has overseen the complete supply chain, service and support, played a key role in the arrival of the first iPhone, and most recently oversaw the development of the Watch. His promotion may also indicate that he was also successful in his role as a supervisor on Apple's first wearable product.

Even more significant is the promotion of Johny Srouji, who for the first time enters the highest levels of the company. Srouji joined Apple in 2008 and has since served as vice president of hardware technology. In nearly eight years, he has built one of the best and most innovative engineering teams involved in silicon and other hardware technologies.

Johny Srouji has now been promoted to the role of senior vice president of hardware technology for his achievements, which include, for example, all processors in iOS devices starting with the A4 chip, which are among the best in their category. Srouji had long reported directly to Tim Cook, but with the growing importance of his own chips, he felt the need to reward Srouji appropriately.

"Jeff is without a doubt the best operations manager I've ever worked with, and Johny's team creates world-class silicone designs that enable new innovations in our products year after year," commented Tim Cook on the new positions, who praised how much talent across the executive team has.

Phil Schiller, chief marketing officer, will also be overseeing App Story across all platforms including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Watch and Apple TV.

"Phil takes on new responsibility for driving our ecosystem, led by the App Store, which has grown from a single, pioneering iOS store to four strong platforms and an increasingly important part of our business," Cook revealed. App Story Schiller gets to his previous tasks, such as communications with developers and marketing of all kinds.

Tor Myhren, who will come to Apple in the first quarter of next year and take the role of vice president of marketing communications, should partially relieve Schiller. Although he will answer directly to Cook, he should take over the agenda especially from Phil Schiller.

Myhren joins Apple from Gray Group, where he served as creative director and president of Gray New York. In Cupertino, Myhren will be responsible for the advertising business.
