Adam Kos Apple showed us the first generation of AirPods back in 2016. The 2nd generation AirPods came in 2019, including the AirPods Pro. Apple launched the AirPods Max at the end of 2020, and last year we finally got the 3rd generation of AirPods with a redesigned design and several new features. The portfolio is therefore quite rich, but it could still be expanded.
When we look at the classic AirPods, they are gems. These are usually quite comfortable, but suffer from poor sound quality, especially in noisy environments, because due to their design, they cannot seal the ear canal well. However, this is no longer the case with AirPods Pro. These are plug constructions, where the silicone extensions, for example, seal the ear in such a way that it makes sense to use the active noise suppression function. This way, no surrounding noise will reach your ear.

Vratislav Holub AirPods Max are very specific. They feature an over-the-ear design with a headband and are meant to present the highest quality of reproduced music in Apple's stable of wireless headphones. He also gets them paid accordingly. But if the beads or plugs do not have to fit every ear, the Max model is relatively large and, above all, heavy, as it weighs a hefty 384,8 g, so they can be heard nicely, and not only on the head. So it would require some intermediate step, something that will provide a sufficiently high-quality musical performance, but will not be as robust.

Koss PORTA PRO
Of course, I am referring to the form of the legend Koss PORTA PRO. They are over-the-head headphones, but they don't seal your ears like the Max model does. Although their design is appropriately iconic and proven over the years, Apple would not have to draw from it at all, because it can take some inspiration from its own stable - the products of the Beats series.
It's more about the design itself that fits your ears, but it's not over them like the AirPods Max, or in them like the AirPods and AirPods Pro. Of course, it depends on who has what requirements and how they need to use their headphones, but I know from my own point of view that this would really be an ideal device. The basic AirPods have many limitations, the Pro model, even though it includes three sizes of earbuds, simply does not fit perfectly in the ear of many people, and the AirPods Max are a different, and for many unnecessary, league, even if they can be found for a relatively reasonable price.

Beats PowerBeats Pro
If Apple didn't really mind cannibalizing its brand, it could have gone one more way. It might not be your case, but it just happens when the earphone falls out of your ear. This is usually because the earcup is too small or, on the contrary, large, and the earpiece does not fit perfectly in the ear. This is exactly what the Beats PowerBeats Pro have solved with a foot behind the ear, which ideally fixes them in it. In addition, such headphones would not compete with the AirPods Pro version in terms of quality, so it could still be the top of Apple's portfolio.

But the Beats PowerBeats Pro is already a relatively old model, and if Apple really wanted to, it could have introduced its AirPods with this design long ago. This wish remains just that, and if Apple were to really think about a new design, one could argue more about the similar Koss brand.
