Apple has been working on the development of an AR/VR headset for many years, which, according to available information, should surprise not only with its design and capabilities, but especially with its price. According to a number of speculations and leaks, it will offer high-quality displays, great performance thanks to an advanced Apple Silicon chip and a number of other benefits. The arrival of this device has been talked about more and more recently. But when will we actually see it? Some sources dated its introduction as early as this year, but that was not the case, which is why the headset will probably not enter the market until next year.

Now, in addition, other interesting information about the product has flown through the apple growing community, which was shared by The Information portal. According to them, the product will not be introduced until the end of 2023, while at the same time there was a mention of possible battery life, although it was only discussed in general terms. Even so, we got an interesting insight into how things could turn out. Based on the original plans, the headset was supposed to offer roughly eight hours of battery life on a single charge. However, the engineers from Apple eventually gave up on this, as such a solution was allegedly not feasible. Therefore, endurance comparable to the competition is now mentioned. So let's take a look at it and try to determine how the long-awaited AR/VR headset from Apple could actually be.

Competitive battery life

Before we get to the numbers themselves, one important thing needs to be mentioned. As is probably the case with any electronics, battery life strongly depends on what we do with the given product and how we use it in general. Of course, it is clear that, for example, a laptop will last much longer when browsing the Internet than when playing graphics-intensive games. In short, it is necessary to reckon with it. As far as VR headsets are concerned, the Oculus Quest 2 is perhaps the most popular at the moment, which benefits mainly from the fact that it is completely independent and, thanks to its Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, can handle a number of tasks without the need for a classic (albeit powerful) computer. This product offers about 2 hours of gaming or 3 hours of watching movies. The Valve Index VR headset is significantly better, offering an average of seven hours of battery life.

Other interesting models include the HTC Vive Pro 2, which can operate for around 5 hours. As another example, we will mention a VR headset designed for playing on the PlayStation game console, or PlayStation VR 2, from which the manufacturer promises up to 5 hours on a single charge. Anyway, so far we have listed here the more "ordinary" products from this segment. However, a better example could be the Pimax Vision 8K X model, which is literally high-end compared to the mentioned pieces and offers significantly better parameters, which brings it closer to the speculation about an AR/VR headset from Apple. This model then promises up to 8 hours of endurance.

Although the mentioned headsets Oculus Quest 2, Valve Index and Pimax Vision 8K X are a bit out of line, it can generally be said that the average duration of these products is around five to six hours. Whether the apple representative will be there anyway is of course a question, in any case, the currently available information points to it.
