With the arrival of the Apple AirTag, all speculations about the arrival of a location tag have been definitively confirmed. It entered the market at the end of April 2021 and almost immediately gained a lot of support from the users themselves, who liked it very quickly. AirTag made it easier to find lost things. Simply put it, for example, in your wallet or attach it to your keys, and then you know exactly where the items are located. Their location is displayed directly in the native Find application.

In addition, if there is a loss, the power of the Find network comes into play. AirTag can send a signal about its location through other users who can come into contact with the device itself - without even knowing about it. This is how the location is updated. But the question is, where can AirTag actually move and what could the second generation bring? We will now shed light on this together in this article.

Minor changes for a more user-friendly experience

First, let's focus on minor changes that could somehow make using AirTag as such more pleasant. The current AirTag has one minor problem. This can represent a bigger obstacle for someone, as it is not possible to use the product comfortably with it. Of course, we are talking about size and dimensions. The current generation is in a way "bloated" and somewhat rougher, which is why it cannot be comfortably placed in, for example, a wallet.

It is in this that Apple clearly surpasses the competition, which offers localization pendants, for example, in the form of plastic (payment) cards, which just need to be inserted into the appropriate compartment in the wallet and there is no further need to solve anything. As we mentioned above, the AirTag isn't so lucky, and if you're using a smaller wallet, it won't be twice as convenient to use. There is one more potential change related to this. If you want to attach the pendant to your keys, for example, then you are more or less out of luck. AirTag as such is just a round pendant that you can put in your pocket at most. You also need to purchase a strap to attach it to your keys or keychain. A number of Apple users perceive this ailment as a solid shortcoming, which is why we would all like to see Apple incorporate a loop hole.

Better functionality

In the end, the most important thing is how the AirTag itself works and how reliable it is. Although in this respect, apple growers are enthusiastic and praise the capabilities of AirTags, this does not mean that we do not have room for improvement. Quite the contrary. Users would therefore like to see even more accurate searches combined with greater Bluetooth range. It is the greater range that is absolutely key in this case. As we mentioned above, a lost AirTag informs its user of its location through the Find it network. As soon as someone with a compatible device walks near the AirTag, it receives a signal from it, transmits it to the network, and in the end, the owner is notified of the last location. Therefore, it would definitely not hurt to increase the range and overall accuracy.

On the other hand, it is possible that Apple will accept the next AirTag from a completely different side. So far, we are talking about the possibilities of the successor, or the second line. On the other hand, it is possible that the current version will remain on sale, while the Cupertino giant will only expand the offer with another model with a slightly different purpose. Specifically, he could present a product in the form of a plastic card, which would be an ideal solution especially for the mentioned wallets. After all, this is precisely where Apple currently has strong gaps, and it would definitely be worth filling them.

Successor vs. expanding the menu

It is therefore a question of whether Apple will come up with a successor to the existing AirTag, or on the contrary just expand the offer with another model. The second option would probably be easier for him and would also please the apple lovers themselves more. Unfortunately, it won't be quite that easy. The current AirTag relies on a CR2032 button battery. In the case of the AirTag in the form of a payment card, it would probably not be possible to use this, and the giant would have to look for an alternative. How would you most like to see the future of Apple AirTag? Would you rather welcome a successor in the form of the second generation of the product, or are you closer to expanding the offer with a new model?
