Apple enjoys quite a large loyal fan base. Over the years of his work, he was able to gain a solid reputation and create around him a large number of devoted apple lovers who simply cannot give up on their Apple products. But that doesn't mean that everything is completely flawless. Unfortunately, we also find products that are no longer so popular and, on the contrary, receive a fairly sharp wave of criticism. A perfect example is the virtual assistant Siri.

When Siri was first unveiled, the world was excited to see its capabilities and potential. Thus, Apple was able to win the favor of people instantly, precisely by adding an assistant that allows you to control the device through voice instructions. But as time went on, the enthusiasm gradually started to wane until we reached the current stage where you don't hear much praise for Siri. Apple simply slept through time and allowed itself to be overtaken (in an extreme way) by the competition. And so far he hasn't done anything about it.

Siri in extreme trouble

Although the criticism towards Siri has been going on for longer, it has multiplied significantly in recent months, when there has been a fundamental boom in artificial intelligence. This is the fault of the OpenAI organization, which came up with its chatbot ChatGPT, which boasts quite unprecedented possibilities. It is therefore not surprising that other technological giants, led by Microsoft and Google, quickly reacted to this development. On the contrary, we don't have any other information about Siri and for now it looks more like there is simply no upcoming change. In short, Apple is moving at a relatively unprecedented speed. Especially considering how much praise Siri received years ago.

Therefore, the fundamental question is how it is actually possible that something like this happens at all. How come Apple can't respond to trends and move Siri forward? According to the available information, the fault is primarily the not fully functional team working on Siri. Apple has lost several important engineers and workers in recent years. So it could be said that the team is unstable in this respect and it logically follows that it is not in the best position to move the software solution forward vigorously. According to information from The Information, three important engineers have left Apple and moved to Google, because they believe that there they can better apply their knowledge to work on large language models (LLM), which are central to solutions such as Google Bard or ChatGPT.

Even employees struggle with Siri

But to make matters worse, Siri is criticized not only by the users themselves, but also directly by the employees of the Cupertino company. In this regard, of course, opinions are mixed, but in general it can be said that while some are disappointed with Siri, others find the lack of functions and capabilities comical. Therefore, many of them are also of the opinion that Apple will probably never make as significant a breakthrough in the field of artificial intelligence as the OpenAI organization did with their ChatGPT chatbot. It is therefore a question of how the whole situation surrounding Apple's virtual assistant will develop, and whether we will see the progress that Apple users have been calling for for several years. But for now, there is a lot of silence in this area.
