Not long ago, Apple released new updates of its operating systems to the public. Specifically, we received iOS and iPadOS 15.6, macOS 12.5 Monterey and watchOS 8.7. So, if you own a compatible device, you can jump into the update. In any case, some users traditionally complain that their device does not last as long after the update, or that it is slower. In this article, we will look together at 5 tips to increase the battery life of your iPhone with iOS 15.6.

Restrictions on location services

Some applications and websites may access your current location during use, through so-called location services. It makes sense for selected apps, such as navigation, however many other apps use your location to collect data and target ads – like social networks. Of course, excessive use of location services causes a reduction in endurance, which is why checking or limiting them is useful. So go to Settings → Privacy → Location Services, where possible check access with applications, or straight away completely disable.

Deactivation of 5G

As most of you probably know, all iPhones 12 and newer are capable of working with the fifth generation network, i.e. 5G. This mainly guarantees a higher speed, but the problem is that it is not yet so widespread in our country and you will use it mainly in big cities. Using 5G in itself is not bad, but the problem is when you are in a place where the 5G signal is weak and you are constantly switching to 4G/LTE (and vice versa). This is what causes a significant decrease in battery life, and if you are in such a place, you should disable 5G. You can achieve this in Settings → Mobile data → Data options → Voice and data, where tick LTE.

Deactivation of effects and animations

When you start browsing iOS (and other Apple systems) and think about it, you can notice all kinds of effects and animations. They make the system look simply cool and modern, but the truth is that rendering these effects and animations requires computing power. This can be a problem especially with older devices that don't have it for sale. That is why it is useful to turn off effects and animations, in Settings → Accessibility → Motion, where activate function Limit movement. You can also activate here To prefer blending. Subsequently, you will immediately notice an acceleration, even on newer phones, as animations, which traditionally take some time to execute, will be limited.

Turn off analytics sharing

If you have enabled it in the initial settings, your iPhone collects various diagnostic data and analyzes during use, which are then sent to Apple and developers. This will help to improve the system and applications, but on the other hand, the collection of data and analysis and the subsequent sending of this data may cause deterioration of the endurance of your iPhone. Fortunately, data and analytics sharing can be turned off retroactively – just go to Settings → Privacy → Analytics and improvements. Here deactivate Share iPhone and watch analysis and possibly other items as well.

Limiting background updates

Some apps can update their content in the background. We encounter this, for example, with applications for weather or social networks - if you move to such an application, you are always shown the latest available content, thanks to the mentioned function. However, searching and downloading content in the background obviously causes battery life to deteriorate. So if you're willing to wait a few seconds for content to update every time you move to apps, you can disable background updates, partially or completely. Just go to Settings → General → Background Updates.
