In the Apple ecosystem, Apple ID is the gateway to most services and stores. With an Apple ID, you can download apps from the App Store, songs from the iTunes Store, sync your data with iCloud, use iMessage, and more. Apple ID is your chosen email address, but what if you just want to change it?
There are a few simple steps to take to change the email address associated with your Apple ID, but the most important thing is to do it before the actual email change takes place.
Apple services do not always deal with changing the Apple ID as smoothly as we would expect, so - in order to avoid potential complications - it is necessary to log out of all services before changing your email, where we use Apple ID. That is sign out of iCloud, the iTunes Store, the App Store, FaceTim, Find My Friends, Find My iPhone, and iMessage — on all the devices you use with that Apple ID.
If you no longer have an Apple ID actively linked to any device, you can follow the steps below to change the email address associated with your Apple ID.
- Open the My Apple ID website at appleid.apple.com/cz.
- Click on "Manage your Apple ID".
- Enter your existing Apple ID and password.
- In the left panel, under "Edit your Apple ID", select "Name, ID and email address".
- Click on Adjust u "Apple ID and primary email address".
- Enter the new email address in the box and confirm by saving.
- A confirmation message will arrive at the new email address, click on Verify.
- Sign in with your new Apple ID, which you can use from then on.
- Sign back into all services with your new Apple ID.
Does it also work if Apple ID is tied to iCloud mail only? I would like to get rid of Gmail.
I would also like to, I have the same "problem"
Unfortunately, this is exactly what I've been dealing with with support, and according to them, an existing Apple ID cannot be linked to an iCloud email address.
What to click on if there is no edit? :)
Exactly as others write here, the biggest problem is that you cannot use the email address @icloud.com. I have already dealt with the support and unfortunately without result. At the same time, the competition does not need this at all. Hopefully it will change over time, because I was forced to use a company email and that's not exactly the right thing to do.
Finally a proper article. I still couldn't figure this out because X years ago I "moron" registered with my real name and my real email!! So now with the iPhone 5S they have my address, email and fingerprints. They don't! I'm already someone else and the email is fake! great article!
I know, it's my mistake and stupid that I registered my phone to myself with all the data. Next time we will be smarter Eploushka…….
Yes, you made a big mistake with the iPhone years ago, and now here's a fatal one (:
