For some time now we have been enjoying the new version of the operating system for Macs - macOS Ventura. This update brings a lot of new features, one of which is changing System Preferences to System Settings. What's new in this area and how to use System Settings in macOS Ventura?

System Preferences in macOS Ventura brings a sidebar-centric design. While the default view was a tiled icon view in macOS Monterey and earlier versions, in macOS Monterey you could customize it by removing items, changing the order, and switching to list view. In System Settings you are bound by what you see, with the design and system of working with System Settings reminiscent of Settings v iOS operating system.

Customizing and working with System Settings

To System Settings v macOS is coming you can get to System Preferences in the same way as in previous versions of the macOS operating system, i.e. through the  menu, with the only difference that instead of the System Preferences item, you now click on System Settings. If you are used to the look of System Preferences after years, the appearance of System Settings may seem confusing and confusing at first glance. That's why you'll certainly use the search field, which you'll find in the upper left corner of the settings window. After entering a keyword, the search results appear in the left sidebar of the System Settings window immediately below the search field.

If you feel that you are not familiar with the list of individual items in the sidebar of the System Settings window, you can use the alphabetical display of all these items. To see an alphabetical list of System Preferences items, when System Preferences is open, click View in the menu bar at the top of your Mac screen. You will also find a search box at the bottom of the alphabetical list of items.

You can change the height of the System Settings window by moving the mouse cursor to the bottom or top edge of the window. Once the arrow changes to double, you can click and drag to adjust the height of the window. The width of the System Settings window cannot be changed, but you can expand its height by clicking the green button in the upper left corner.

There is certainly still plenty of room to improve System Settings, as well as expand its customization options. Let's be surprised if Apple works in this area in one of the newer versions of its operating system for Macs.
