Mission Control

You don't necessarily have to limit yourself to just one window or set of windows when working in fullscreen on a Mac. Among other things, the macOS operating system allows you to work on multiple desktops, whereby you can have applications running in full-screen view on all desktops. You can switch between individual surfaces by sliding three fingers on the trackpad to the sides, another option for working with surfaces on the Mac is the Mission Control function. When you press F3 on a Mac, you switch to Mission Control. In the panel at the top of the screen, you can then drag and drop to change the order of surfaces, add windows to Split View, and much more.

Visibility of Dock and menu bar

While someone needs to have only the current application in view when working in fullscreen view on a Mac, another needs constant access to the Dock or menu bar. In the macOS operating system, you can specify in the system settings how both of these elements will "behave" in fullscreen display. In the upper-left corner of your Mac screen, click Apple menu -> System Settings. In the left panel of the settings window, click on Desktop and Dock and adjust menu bar and Dock features.

Automatic arrangement of surfaces

In the macOS operating system, you can also set open desktops on your Mac to automatically organize themselves according to the last time you used them. In the upper left corner of the screen, click on Apple menu -> System Settings. In the left panel, select Desktop and Dock, in the main settings window, head down to the Mission Control section and enable the option Automatically organize desktops according to last use.

Moving content in fullscreen

One of the advantages offered by the macOS operating system is the huge support for the Drag & Drop function, thanks to which you can, for example, "grab" a file from the desktop with the mouse cursor and drag it into any application. Moving content by Drag & Drop also works in fullscreen display. For example, if you need to move an image from your desktop to Pages, while on your Mac you have multiple applications running in fullscreen mode on several desktops at the same time, simply grab the file with the mouse cursor and start moving. To move across the current screen, simply drag the file to the right or left side of the monitor and wait a moment - the screens will switch automatically in a moment.

Customize Mission Control

Mission Control can really help you out when working in fullscreen on a Mac. When using Mission Control, you can take advantage of a variety of keyboard shortcuts that are highly customizable. To customize these shortcuts, click in the upper left corner Apple menu -> System Settings. On the left side of the window, click on Desktop and Dock, in the main part of the window, point all the way down, click on Abbreviations and start setting up and customizing individual shortcuts.
