If you have an iPhone running iOS 17 or later, you've probably noticed that there's a difference in the way apps are offered to work with native Messages. Likewise, the way to manage these applications has changed. In today's guide, we'll show you how.

When you are in native Messages in iOS 17, and specifically in the native Messages app, there is a plus sign to the left of the message field. When you tap it, your messages are covered by a smoothly animated overlay showing five built-in apps or features and a More button. From that menu, you can activate features such as Escort, location sharing, or perhaps add stickers to messages.

However, you don't necessarily have to rely on how this menu looks by default. If you want, you can set that not a single item is displayed in the menu, or that, on the contrary, up to 11 of them appear here at once. If you want to adjust the order of items in the menu, you can do so by holding and dragging individual items.

To add new items to the menu (or, conversely, remove them), proceed as follows.

  • Run it Settings.
  • Click on News.
  • Click on Apps for iMessage.
  • To add an item, activate the slider to the right of its name, to remove it, on the contrary, deactivate the slider.

You can also uninstall selected apps to remove them from the menu by tapping the red circle to the left of their name, but this will also remove them from your iPhone.
