All users of iPhones, iPads and Macs have already encountered the iCloud synchronization service. Of course, it is not necessary for you to use it as the primary tool for storing all your data, on the other hand, it is closely integrated into the Apple ecosystem, so it does not hurt to at least try it. However, the Californian giant isn't too generous when it comes to giving away free storage space – you'll only get 5GB of space on the basic plan. iCloud storage prices are not exorbitant, but if you are in a situation where you need to save every penny, then this article is exactly for you - we will show you how to save space on iCloud.

Unnecessary conversations from Messages must go

If you use more than just an iPhone, you know that both iMessages and text messages sync between all your devices. If you're wondering where the data from Messages is stored, it's your personal iCloud account. You might think that simple text messages can't take up much space, but after a few years of use, data accumulates, and I'm not talking about the photos or videos you send. To delete the most voluminous conversations, go to Settings -> your name -> iCloud -> Manage Storage. Click on the section here News and then open it Top conversation. The largest conversations in terms of size will be sorted in descending order for you to delete one by one swipe from right to left and tap on Delete.

Delete data from iCloud Drive

Especially at a time when most of us are in the home office, we often have to save a lot of personal and work data. However, let's face it, you don't necessarily need to keep all files, and you will definitely find some that could be deleted. To manage data on iCloud Drive, open it again Settings -> your name -> iCloud -> Manage Storage, tap the icon iCloud Drive and to delete a specific file after it swipe from right to left and tap on Delete.

Minimize app data

Many third-party app developers store data from their apps on iCloud, just like native apps. In almost any circumstances, this is an advantage - not only are you assured of reliable synchronization between all Apple products, but also if you buy a new machine, you can use it in just a few minutes as if you had owned it for several years. However, not all application data is needed, so it is a good idea to reduce it from time to time. Therefore, move to Settings -> your name -> iCloud -> Manage Storage, click on a specific application and click on the item next to it Delete data, which will delete the application data.

Photos on iCloud, or the most valuable, but often also the most voluminous

There is nothing pleasant if you lose contacts, reminders or some e-mail messages, but the loss of family photos and videos hurts the most. Fortunately, if you shoot with an iPhone and have iCloud Photos activated, they are automatically sent to iCloud. However, they take up a considerable amount of storage space here. If you don't want to have Photos on iCloud, because, for example, you back them up to another cloud or your own storage, then go to Settings -> Photos a turn off switch Ffathers on iCloud. At this point, all multimedia content captured by iPhone or iPad will stop being sent to iCloud.

Older backups are usually not needed

The Californian giant constantly strives to make its users almost worry-free, as evidenced by, for example, automatic iPhone and iPad backups - these are performed when the device is locked, connected to power and WiFi. However, if you own a third Apple phone and a second tablet, it is possible that Apple's storage keeps backups of older devices, which of course you no longer need. Click to remove them Settings -> your name -> iCloud -> Manage Storage, then click on Advances, and after selecting the one you don't need, delete it with the button Delete backup.
