I will try to give you a tutorial on how to create your own unique iPhone ringtone for free in 40 seconds. And in two ways.
1st way to create a ringtone using iTunes
- In iTunes go to Preferences and here in the General tab click on Import Settings... in this menu choose AAC encoder - if you don't already have this setting.
- In iTunes, find the song you want to make a ringtone from. Make a note of what time the ringtone should start and what part it should end in (about 39 seconds maximum).
- Now right click on the song and choose "Get Info". In the "Options" panel, set when the ringtone should start and end exactly as you noted.
- Then right-click on the same song and select "Create AAC Version". This will create a new shorter version of the song.
- Right click on the new shorter version of the song and choose "Show in Finder" (probably Show in Explorer on Windows).
- For example, copy this new file with the extension m4a to the desktop and change the extension to .m4r.
- Go back to iTunes and right click on the short version of the song. Right-click, select Delete (and in the dialog box Remove).
- Return to the desktop, double-click the copied short version of the song with the .m4r extension, and the ringtone should appear in Ringtones in iTunes.
Method 2 Using GarageBand [Mac]
- Open GarageBand, choose New Project - Voice and then Choose - you can name the ringtone and click OK.
- Find a song in the Finder and drag it into GarageBand.
- In the lower left corner, click on the scissors icon, which will open a bar with a detailed soundtrack. Mark the part you want to use as a ringtone. You can simply press the spacebar to play the highlighted part.
- In the top options bar, click on Share and then on Send Ringtone to iTunes and you should be done.
3rd way when using 3rd party programs
- In iTunes go to Preferences and here in the General tab click on Import Settings... In this menu choose AAC encoder and High Quality (128 kbps).
- Upload the program Audacity (cross-platform and free), select a song in iTunes and right-click to select Show in Finder.
- Simply drag and drop the song into Audacity and set where the ringtone will start and end here at the bottom (the audio track for the ringtone should be 20-30 seconds long).
- Then click File, then Export Selection. Here you can rename the ringtone and choose the format: AIFF. Drag this AIFF file into iTunes and right-click and select Create AAC Version.
- In the last step, install the program MakeiPhoneRingtone (if you have a Mac) and simply drag the AAC version of the soundtrack into it and your ringtone will appear in iTunes under the Ringtones tab. If you own Windows, then proceed from step 5 in the first method of creating a ringtone.
At first glance, the instructions may seem complicated, but after the first setup and download of the programs, this process is a matter of a few tens of seconds - don't be discouraged and give it a try. You will be rewarded with a unique ringtone completely free of charge.
Note If you want your ringtone to have a nicer beginning and end, apply an effect to the first and last seconds of the audio track. In Audacity, mark the beginning and select Fade in via the Effect option, and similarly choose Fade out for the end in Effect. This will not "cut off" the ringtone, but it will have an onset and an end.
For Win users, I recommend iRinger software. it's incredibly simple, fast and free.
Hello, I have uploaded a new ringtone to my mobile phone. Everything OK. Even the original song from which the ringtone comes has been changed in the itunes list so that it has 2 parts. The 1st part is only the piece that is in the Ring and the 2nd part is a piece from the songbook that was listed under the original song. It happened to me a second time, with a different letter. I probably have the wrong settings in the options under timing. What can I change? Thanks
According to which instructions did you do it?
I recommend http://www.audiko.net
here the visitor can create a ringtone, or download from a million created
I wanted to try that option with GarageBand, but according to the instructions there is no chance at all and I haven't even figured out how to do it. I have GarageBand '08.
I'm joining the iRinger side, it can load various audio formats, extract music from video, YouTube videos, etc... everything is simple, intuitive and in a few clicks.
I used GarageBand 09 for the GarageBand tutorial, so maybe that will be it.
Thanks, I've been looking for this guide for quite a while now. He helped again. I do it according to the first instructions. With the fact that I first prepare the mp3 on the PC in an audio editor. Then I follow your instructions step by step. Thanks!
good day …. I wanted to set the ringtone according to the first method (using itunes), but I can't find the preferences anywhere....thank you
nice to compose other ways, you just need some applications, why can't it be set?
