Unfortunately, in the Czech Republic we have practically no tariff available that would offer us unlimited mobile data for an acceptable price. As individuals, there's probably not much we can do about it - so we have no choice but to pray that prices for mobile data packages will drop in the future. So in the current situation, we have to adapt and learn to save mobile data on our iPhones. Below are some tips to help you save mobile data on your iPhone.

Overview of mobile data usage

Before you get into various restrictions and disabling functions, you should have an overview of what uses the most data on your iPhone. If you want to find out which apps or services use your mobile data the most, go to the native app on your iPhone or iPad Settings. Here then you just need to tap on the option Mobile data. Once you are in this section, get off below, until it appears list of installed applications. For each application you will then find detail, which indicates how much data for a certain period has already been used. You can then find the option to reset your stats by scrolling down in this section all the way down.

Complete ban on mobile data

Let's face it, the best way to prevent excessive mobile data usage is to turn it off completely. Most of you probably know how to turn off mobile data completely - just go to Settings, where you click the section Mobile data and using the switch is deactivate.  But this is definitely not a complete solution. You might find it much more useful to set the settings to prohibit the use of mobile data for certain applications. If you want to disable data access certain application, so on your iPhone or iPad go to Settings, where you click the section Mobile data. Then get off here below to list all applications. Now find the app for which you want to disable mobile data and then using switches data usage disable it.

Turn off data when you don't need it

Most iOS users have a habit of automatically turning off data when they don't need it. Gradually, however, this habit is disappearing and users leave mobile data active even when they do not need it. However, this can also result in the use of mobile data in the background, which is not entirely desirable for saving data. So if you disconnect from your home Wi-Fi network and want to save data, you should turn it off completely. You can quickly turn off mobile data by opening on your iOS or iPadOS device control center, and here you tap on antenna icon.

Personal hotspot

Each of us has probably already found ourselves in a situation where the home Wi-Fi network stopped working at the least convenient moment. In this case, you were forced to use a personal hotspot from your iPhone to connect to the network on your Mac. However, a Mac or MacBook can remember the connection to your hotspot and will automatically connect to it if your home Wi-Fi network goes down - that is, if you don't have it turned off. To save data, it's absolutely optimal to disable your hotspot on your iPhone whenever you don't need it. Deactivate the hotspot by going to Settings, where you click the option Personal hotspot. Switch after clicking switch in the box Allow others to connect do inactive positions.

iCloud Drive

If your iPhone or iPad is not connected to Wi-Fi and needs to transfer some documents and data within iCloud Drive, it can use mobile data to transfer them. This may be unwanted for some of you, as some data can reach tens, if not hundreds of megabytes in size. If you want to deactivate the use of cellular data for iCloud Drive, go to the native application Settings, where you click the option Mobile data. Once you do, get off all the way down under the list of all applications, where you simply use the function switch Disable iCloud Drive.

Wi-Fi Assistant

One of the biggest guzzlers of mobile data is a feature called Wi-Fi Assistant. This feature makes sure that when connected to unstable or weak Wi-Fi, it terminates this connection and instead connects to mobile data. While this feature may seem great for users who have a data limit of several tens of gigabytes, for ordinary people this feature is very impractical. If you want to disable Wi-Fi Assistant, go to the native application on your iPhone Settings, where you click the box Mobile data. Get off here all the way down and by using switches possibility Disable Wi-Fi Assistant.
