Various investments in other companies or their acquisitions are not unusual at Apple. Among other things, the Cupertino giant also invested in the environmentally friendly Nebia shower from Moen. Tim Cook decided to make this investment after he had the opportunity to try the shower in one of the gyms in Palo Alto, California.

The Nebia shower has been able to produce less water without any negative impact on the person using it. The showers were made of multiple materials including aluminum and featured a very pleasing design. The Nebia shower prototype was developed by Philip Winter, who moved to San Francisco in 2014 to convince the operators of local gyms and gyms to install these showers on a trial basis. Gym-goers were then invited to provide feedback. Outside the gyms, Winter himself was waiting for the visitors, who met Tim Cook one morning on this very occasion.

Cook was apparently particularly excited by the environmental benefit of the Nebia shower, and according to Winter, he decided to invest a significant amount of money in the company that produced the shower — not only when the company was a startup, but also in later years. While Nebia did not receive official support from Apple as such, Cook sent "very long, well-crafted and detailed" emails to the company's management, sharing his own entrepreneurial experiences and calling for a focus on user experience, design and sustainability.

In the end, the Nebia shower really proved to be a successful product. The Moen company recently presented its new version on Kickstarter, which uses up to half as much water compared to regular showers. The new version of the Nebia shower is also more affordable than its predecessor – it costs roughly 4500 crowns.
