Compatibility

Apple presented its new operating systems in June at WWDC21. He showed us not only their appearance, but also the functions they will come with. Fortunately, the company makes sure to support as many devices as possible. However, it is understandable that with the complexity of the system, historical devices are not supported and newer ones may not contain all functions and options. However, the requirement for the smartwatch operating system is that you must own at least an iPhone 6S or later with iOS 15 or later installed. New Apple products introduced at the September event are not included in the overview. There will be no need to update the 9th generation iPad, 6th generation iPad mini or the iPhone 13 series as these products will already have the latest system. The same goes for the Apple Watch Series 7 when they become available later this fall.

Make sure you have enough storage

The newer the operating system, the bigger it is. So you need to take this into account and have enough space in the device. The update will be downloaded to your device first, and only then can you update the system. So go through your deleted photos and delete them completely from your device, if you don't need to have some media stored on it like music or videos, delete them too to free up your storage. Then it depends on whether you need to get rid of some applications as well. You don't have to delete it right away, just put it away. For this go to Settings -> In general -> Device storage -> Put away unused.

Backup!

It doesn't happen often, but sometimes things go wrong, especially on the first day when Apple releases new systems to the public. Under the onslaught of users, an error may simply occur, and if you don't want to suddenly have a broken device for such a reason, make a backup of your data. You can do so on iCloud or by cable to your computer. That little bit of time invested is definitely worth it as it will save you a lot of trouble recovering your lost data.

When will the systems come out?

Apple said at its conference that today, that is 20. September. According to the classical timetable, it can be expected that it will At 19 o'clock our time. However, it is necessary to take into account the workload of the servers, so it may happen that you do not see the update right away and that the whole update process will take some time after all. Also, keep in mind that you may be asked for a code when updating a new operating system to your device.
