Did you know that the new iPhone 5 with iOS 6 can take photos while recording video? It's really simple.

The latest generation of Apple iPhones can record high-definition video, and the popularity of using the phone as a video camera is growing. However, sometimes you want or need to take a photo while shooting a video. Unfortunately, this won't work with the iPhone 4/4S, but if you own an iPhone 5, iOS will offer you this option.

Thanks to the iPhone 5, you can shoot a video and take a photo without interrupting it. So how to do it?

Just open the Camera app and go to video recording. As soon as you start recording, a camera icon will appear in the upper right corner. Pressing it takes a picture of the scene without interrupting video recording.

You can find the photo saved like all the others, in the Pictures application.

It's a great feature, but it has one drawback. The iPhone 5 camera can take 8 megapixel photos during normal shooting. However, when taking a photo of a scene while shooting a video, only a picture with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pix is saved, the same as the resolution of the video. This is apparently due to the fact that the phone also records video at this resolution, so it cannot take photos at full resolution.
