Scanning QR codes couldn't be easier. Apple decided to implement this smart gadget directly into the Camera application. Thus, any possibility of having to unnecessarily download third-party applications for scanning QR codes from the App Store is excluded. Everything now works absolutely flawlessly directly through the Camera application. So today we'll show you how.
How to Scan QR Codes in iOS 11
The function for reading QR codes is automatically set, so you do not need to search for and turn it on in Settings. Everything works very simply:
- Just open it Camera
- Move the lens to QR code
- QR code in a fraction of a second recognizes
- We know it by will display a notification
This notification will briefly describe what kind of QR code it is (redirect to a website, add an event to the calendar, etc.) and also tell us what will be done after we click on the notification. If you swipe down on a notification, you'll see an initial preview of the action, like previewing a web page.
Supported QR codes in iOS 11
iOS 11 can scan 10 different QR codes from these apps:
- Telephone,
- Contacts,
- Calendar,
- News,
- maps,
- Mail,
- Safari.
These QR codes can perform an action corresponding to the application, for example, the Phone can add a contact, Calendar add an event etc. Newer HomeKit devices can even start the process pairing using QR codes.
How to turn off automatic scanning of QR codes
If you don't want this feature turned on, do the following:
- Open it Settings
- Select an option Camera
- Here, use the slider to turn off the option Scan QR codes
Fine, but iOS 11 does not support Czech when reading a QR code... So for contacts written in the QR code in Czech (and not only in Czech), I prefer to still use the great App Barcode.
I wonder why, even if I enable it in the settings, the camera does not offer it. And that's my last real apple phone - SE.
I only have the QR code on the phone, on the display.. not outside the phone, so I can't scan it with the camera.. is there a way so I don't have to have it outside the phone? dix
