You can only charge AirPods and AirPods Pro with the designated charging cases. They start charging as soon as you put them in. The given case has enough capacity to charge the headphones themselves several times. You can also charge them on the go when you are not using them. And even if you don't have to worry about the battery capacity in the case, the battery in the headphones does.

TWS or True Wireless Stereo headphones are designed so that they really do not contain a single cable, i.e. the left and right headphones are separated from each other, while they are both connected to their own stereo channel, using the Bluetooth function. But this entire technology is relatively young and suffers from one fundamental ailment – the gradual reduction of the headphone battery capacity. Many cases are known where the first generation of AirPods does not even last half an hour on a full charge after two years of use.

AirPods battery life

At the same time, Apple states that AirPods can last up to 5 hours of listening to music or up to 3 hours of talk time on a single charge. In combination with the charging case, you get more than 24 hours of listening time or more than 18 hours of talk time. In addition, in 15 minutes, the headphones in the charging case are charged for up to 3 hours of listening and 2 hours of talk time.

AirPods durability

If we look at the AirPods Pro, this is 4,5 hours of listening time per charge, 5 hours with active noise cancellation and permeability turned off. You can handle the call for up to 3,5 hours. In combination with the case, this means 24 hours of listening and 18 hours of talk time. In 5 minutes of the presence of the headphones in their charging case, they are charged for an hour of listening or talking. All, of course, under ideal conditions, while the values are given for a new device.

When your AirPods start to run out of juice, the connected iPhone or iPad informs you with a notification. This notification will appear when the headphones have 20, 10 and 5 percent battery left. But in order for you to be properly informed about this, even if you don't look at the connected device, the AirPods will inform you about it by playing a tone - but only for the remaining 10%, you will hear it a second time just before the headphones turn off.

Optimized charging

Compared to AirPods, those with the nickname Pro are more inflated with many functions, which is also reflected in their price. But spending more than 7 CZK and throwing the headphones into the electrical waste in two years is not good for the environment or your wallet. Therefore, the company has implemented an optimized charging function in them, similar to what is done with iPhones or Apple Watch.

This function thus reduces wear and tear on the battery and extends its life by intelligently determining the charging time. This is because your connected device will remember how you use your AirPods Pro and will only allow them to be charged to 80%. The headphones will then be fully charged just before you probably want to use them. The more regularly you use them, the more you determine when they should be charged.

Optimized charging is present in iOS or iPadOS 14.2, when the feature is automatically turned on on your AirPods after a system update. So if you want to save the battery of your headphones and you're still using older systems, it's worth updating. In addition, optimized charging can be turned off at any time. To do this, just open the case of the paired AirPods and go to iOS or iPadOS Settings -> Bluetooth. Click here blue "i" symbol, which is located next to the name of the headphones and Optimized charging turn off here.
