What makes the most demands on the battery and what affects the life of the iPhone the most? Of course it's the display. However, by properly adjusting its parameters, you can easily extend its life. You can achieve this in a few steps. Here you will find 5 tips for extending the life of your iPhone by adjusting the brightness and colors on its display.

Setting the display brightness

The first step to extend the battery life is to adjust the display backlight. If you need to correct it manually, just go to Control center, where select the optimal value with the sun icon. However, iPhones have an ambient light sensor, according to which they can automatically correct the brightness. It is also recommended to achieve longer endurance. The human eye rarely judges when the display is too bright or, on the contrary, not enough. To do this, go to Settings -> Disclosure, where you tap on Display and text size and turn on Auto brightness.

Dark mode

This mode switches the iPhone environment to dark colors, which are optimized not only for low light, but especially for night hours. Thanks to it, the display doesn't have to shine as much, which saves the device's battery, especially on OLED displays, where black pixels don't have to be backlit. It can be turned on once in Control center after choosing the sun icon, you can set it to automatically activate according to the time of day or according to your own schedule. You will do this in Settings -> Display and brightness, where you select a menu Elections. You can choose from it From dusk till dawn or precisely define your own time.

True tone

iPhone 8 and iPhone X and newer phones allow True Tone to be turned on. It automatically adjusts the colors and brightness of the display according to the surrounding conditions. This means, for example, that the displayed color will be the same under incandescent, fluorescent and sunlight. Also for that reason, it is recommended to have it turned on, because it is taken care of automatically, it also affects the battery life, and in a good way. You turn the function back on from Control center or Settings -> Display and brightness -> True tone.

Night Shift

This function, in turn, tries to shift the colors of the display to a warmer spectrum of light to make it easier on your eyes, especially at night. Thanks to the warmer appearance, it is not necessary to emit as much light = battery saving. Direct power-on is also found in Control center under the sun icon, you can manually define it in Settings -> Display and brightness -> Night Shift. Here you can also define the time schedule, similar to the dark mode, as well as the color temperature itself.

Lockout

Settings -> Display and brightness -> Lockout you can also define the screen lock time. This is the time after which it will go out (and thus the device will be locked). Of course, it is useful to set the lowest one here, i.e. 30 seconds. If you also want to save battery, turn off the option Wake up by lifting. In this case, your iPhone won't turn on every time you pick it up.
