Operating an iPhone with gloves may seem like a superhuman task to beginners. The answer to the question of how to control the iPhone while wearing gloves is not easy, but it does not mean that it is not possible at all. In this article, we will give you some tips, thanks to which you will no longer have to take off your gloves (or use your nose instead of your finger) to operate your iPhone in winter.

Phone calls

Among the situations in which users find themselves most often is an incoming call. You can activate it on your iPhone automatic answering of an incoming phone call, but this solution is quite impractical for many reasons. It is ideal if you have EarPods or AirPods on at the moment - to receive a call via EarPods, you can press the middle button on the controller, on traditional AirPods you can receive a call by double-tapping one of the headphones, and on AirPods Pro by pressing the stem of one of the headphones. If, on the other hand, you want to reject an incoming call, just press the button to turn off the iPhone twice.

Camera control

If you want to take a picture or video of a beautiful snowy landscape on your iPhone, but you don't want to take off your gloves to take a photo or video or video, and you own an iPhone 11 or later, you can long press one of the volume buttons to start recording using the QuickTake function. Older models then offer the option to start shooting a sequence of images. You can activate this function in Settings -> Camera, where you activate the option Take pictures of sequences with the volume up button. Use the volume up button to take a sequence, the volume down button to take a single shot. You can then open the camera itself with, for example, the command "Hey Siri, open the camera".

Accessibility feature

To control the iPhone while wearing gloves, you can also use the relatively new function Access - tapping behind the back. By doing this you can activate an action of your choice on your iPhone, assigning one action to a double tap and another action to a triple tap. to the back of the iPhone. You can set the actions that are triggered when you tap the back in Settings -> Accessibility -> Touch -> Tap on the back.

Use Siri

The digital voice assistant Siri can also be a great helper when controlling the iPhone with gloves. You can enter a number of useful commands, starting with playing music ("Hey Siri, play some music") and ending with sending messages (unfortunately, you are limited in this direction in terms of language, as Siri still does not speak Czech). Siri can, for example, read the incoming message out loud ("Hey Siri, read last message from [contact name]"), inform you about the weather ("How is the weather today?"), or change the brightness level ("Increase brightness") or volume on your iPhone.

Get the right gloves

If you don't want to use the tricks mentioned above and prefer to control your iPhone manually, you can simply buy specially adapted gloves, which are directly intended for these purposes. You can find special gloves for handling the iPhone at the vast majority of electronics retailers. Keep in mind that a higher price will usually guarantee you easier and more precise control as well as better durability of the gloves as such. However, it should also be noted that operating the iPhone with gloves will always be less precise than without them.
