Part of practically all operating systems from Apple is a special Accessibility section, which can be found in Settings. Within this section, you will find several different functions and preferences, with the help of which Apple devices can be used by users who are disadvantaged in some way, i.e. blind or deaf, for example. But the truth is that many of the functions that are available in Accessibility will also be used by classic users, as they can simplify their daily functioning. On the Apple Watch, you can activate AssistiveTouch in Accessibility, with which the Apple Watch can be used using hand gestures. Let's focus on this feature together in this article and show you 5 tips related to it.

Activating AssistiveTouch and gesture control

If you'd like to control your Apple Watch using hand gestures, it's not difficult - however, it is necessary to activate this option, as it is disabled by default. So on your iPhone, go to the native app Watch, where at the bottom of the screen in the menu select My watch. Once you've done that, scroll down to find and tap on Disclosure. Then scroll down again and open the Motor functions category Assistive Touch. Here it is necessary AssistiveTouch switch activate, and then go to hand gesture where to perform activation of this function.

Gesture control

Once you activate AssistiveTouch and Hand Gestures, you can immediately start controlling your Apple Watch using gestures. As far as gestures are concerned, there are a total of four available, and their use is simple – they consist of connecting the fingers (tapping the index finger on the thumb) and closing the hand into a fist. Just go to the native app on your iPhone Watch, where click below My watch. Then go to Accessibility → AssistiveTouch → Hand Gestures, where in the category Customize gestures unclick row with the gesture you want to edit. Then it's enough select an action, which is to be performed after the gesture is performed. If you would like to restore the default gesture settings, just tap Restore Defaults.

Activation gesture

In order to be able to control your Apple Watch using hand gestures, after the aforementioned activation, it is still necessary to move to the interface in which gestures can be used. This "activation procedure" must be performed every time the screen is turned on. First, turn your wrist to turn on the watch display, or turn it on in any other way. Then all you have to do is they clenched their fists twice which turns on gesture control. If you would like to change the activation gesture, go to the application Watch, where at the bottom click My Watch, and then Accessibility → AssistiveTouch → Hand gestures → Activation gesture, where are you select one of the options.

Quick actions

In certain cases, when you use gestures to control your Apple Watch, you may see a prompt with an action that you can quickly perform double fist. This can be, for example, automatic notification scrolling and others. These prompts that may appear are called Quick Actions. If you want to use them, it is necessary to activate them by going to the application Watch, where below tap on the option My watch. Then click on it Accessibility → AssistiveTouch → Hand Gesture → Quick Actions, where the switch function activate.
