Put yourself in a possible future situation - there is a pleasant monster at home, a tree is lit in the living room and you are enthusiastically going to unwrap presents. After socks, which are such an unwritten golden rule, and an ugly Christmas sweater, nothing but the last, tough gift awaits you. If you're lucky and there's a MacBook waiting for you in the box, there's nothing left but congratulations. But the question is, what then? After all, Christmas can be quite hectic and destroying your expensive gift right after Christmas Eve dinner probably wouldn't be the best start. That is why we have prepared a few tips for cases, covers and other protective equipment that will keep your MacBook relatively safe.

Military protection, or rather a lightweight version?

If you're really into your MacBook and want an absolute monster that will make your computer literally impregnable, there's no better choice than a reinforced full-body cover, such as UAG Plasma Case. Thanks to its transparency and flexibility, it may seem that it is not as hot a protection as it might seem, but don't be fooled. The cover complies with military standards, perfectly protecting the corners and at the same time elegantly making all ports accessible. It's almost safe to say that it would survive a nuclear blast… well, maybe not, but at least it'll save your MacBook in the event of an awkward drop. The only downside is the striking design, heavy weight and distinctive features. Specifically, the UAG Plasma Case is one of the few of its kind, and it should be noted that it is a somewhat extreme variant that is especially suitable for work where there is a risk of physical damage.

So if you are looking for a suitable helper to carry your MacBook rather than an all-in-one protection, we have a solution for you. There are a number of lightweight cases on the market that are soft, padded and pleasant to the touch. At the same time, it offers an elegant design, pliable material and, above all, a solid construction that won't break easily. In addition, the cases are usually made of polyester, which can withstand any kind of pitfalls, even in the form of a liquid that is partially absorbed, and withstand even some more unpleasant falls. However, this is strictly a case for carrying the MacBook, and a strong disadvantage may be that it does not let you work on the computer while it is safely hidden. In any case, this is a great helper, thanks to which you can forget about bags and carry your computer safely, for example in a backpack.

Even a transparent case is not out of the question

Other promising candidates include polycarbonate transparent cases, which blend in perfectly with the MacBook and you almost don't even notice that you have a case at all. Although at first glance this may look like an advantage and above all an aesthetic addition, in the end it may simply happen that the protection will not be sufficient. Although the case will protect the computer from mechanical scratches and minor damage, it probably won't withstand a harder fall and we definitely wouldn't recommend testing it. However, if you are careful with your MacBook and consider the case more as a backup option, this is a great accessory that does not detract from the overall design and at the same time offers a kind of basic protection.

If you rely not only on functionality and protection, but also on practicality itself, you should smarten up. While previous cases served clear purposes, either to carry or work as such, there are also elegant hybrids that serve as such multifunctional companions. One such cover is, for example  Thule Gauntlet, where you can use, among other things, a special mechanism that attaches to the MacBook and you can work undisturbed while your computer is safe. In addition, the increased protection ensures the minimization of damage in the event of a fall and other pleasant functions that offer almost no disadvantages. The only ailment is that it covers the design of the MacBook itself, but you probably can't avoid it.

Even style counts when choosing

There is nothing better than a proper style, and especially the minimalist one that goes hand in hand with the design from Apple. And it is precisely this aspect that fulfills the cases on the base bag perfectly. In addition to genuine leather, it usually also offers the appearance of an "envelope" in which you can put your MacBook with a clear conscience, and at the same time they are suitable for all lovers of elegance who appreciate practical functionality enriched with above-standard functions. The icing on the cake is the relatively robust construction, which ensures that if you accidentally drop the computer while carrying it, it will very likely survive unscathed. But if you are looking for a durable cover and the appearance is not too important to you, you should rather choose one of the earlier tips. In addition to the high price tag, similar cases often suffer from rapid wear and above all, they really hate water, which can seriously damage them.

So taking it round and round, again it just depends on what you prefer. If you put up with style and prestige, but functionality goes a bit to the side, leather cases are a nice accessory, but they are somewhat single-purpose. But if you have safety in mind, this is a great companion. And if you prefer robust protection with a balanced price/performance ratio, the hybrid cover is the ideal choice. We recommend reaching for the extreme in the form of the UAG Plasma Case and similar military experiments only if your work requires it and, in short, you simply cannot do without it.
