If it happens that you sometimes do not remember the login information for one of your accounts, then there is a new feature for you in OS X Mavericks and iOS 7 Keychain in iCloud. It will remember all access data, passwords and credit cards that you fill in...
You then only need to remember a single password, which will reveal all the stored data. In addition, the keychain syncs via iCloud, so you have your passwords at hand on all devices.
In iOS 7, the Keychain came with version 7.0.3. Once you updated your system, you were prompted to set up Keychain. However, if you did not do so, or if you did so only on one of the devices, we bring you instructions on how to set up Keychain on all iPhones, iPads and Macs.
Keychain settings in iOS
- Go to Settings > iCloud > Keychain.
- Turn on the feature Keychain on iCloud.
- Enter your Apple ID password.
- Enter the four-digit security code.
- Enter your phone number, which will be used to verify your identity when using your iCloud security code. If you activate the Keychain on another device, you will receive a verification code on this phone number.
Adding a device to Keychain in iOS
- Go to Settings > iCloud > Keychain.
- Turn on the feature Keychain on iCloud.
- Enter your Apple ID password.
- Click on Approve with security code and enter the four-digit security code you chose when you first set up the Keychain.
- You will receive a verification code to the selected phone number, which you can use to activate the Keychain on another device.
You can skip the security code approval and then entering the verification code by entering your Apple ID password on the first device when prompted, which will activate the Keychain on the second device.
Keychain settings in OS X Mavericks
- Go to System Preferences > iCloud.
- Check Keychain.
- Enter your Apple ID password.
- To activate the Keychain, either use the security code and then enter the verification code sent to the selected phone number, or request approval from another device. Then you just enter your Apple ID password on it.
Setting up Keychain synchronization in Safari
Safari on iOS
- Go to Settings > Safari > Passwords & Filling.
- Choose the categories you want to sync in Keychain.
Safari in OS X
- Open Safari > Preferences > Fill.
- Choose the categories you want to sync in Keychain.
Now you have everything connected. All the information about your access passwords, usernames and credit cards that you fill out and save in your browser will now be available on any Apple device you use.
When I set up the key, I chose the option without a password - that means I will approve the device on another device. Can this setting be changed?
Try deactivating and reactivating the Keychain.
it needs to be reset ;-) Anyway thanks, solved :-)
Is there a way to move passwords from 1password to a keybox?
And what's the point of moving data from a much better performing password manager like 1password to a keychain?
I'm not exactly sure it works "much better". Quite often, I encountered problems with the Safari plugin when filling out forms, which did not always cope with the form (sometimes when automatic data submission was set after filling in, the page only refreshed, but I did not log in anywhere, sometimes when there were more than one server accounts, so he automatically logged in to the first one, while he logically gave other options to choose from elsewhere). As a result, I was constantly fiddling with the settings because the behavior changed arbitrarily even over time as the plugin was updated. Add to that the exorbitant bat they want for it, so thank you, but I won't be buying it again. In addition, Apple's keychain allows me to conveniently use passwords not only on Mac, but also on iOS in Safari (not like 1password only in my application).
Can I somehow open the keychain and reveal the passwords? If I forgot it, let me look at it.
Yes, you can find it in Safari settings (iOS - Passwords and filling, OS X - Filling.)
or on OS X simply in the Keychain application :)
Exactly. I would forget :)
I don't get text messages, it only came to me for the first time :(( when setting up the keychain in a new device. What about it?
probably just patience. Personally, I tried to do this here and there over the course of about a week from iOS and OS X, and I got the SMS maybe only after the tenth attempt in OS X, before that nothing ever arrived.
We'll see, I've never had any xD (only the first one) I thought maybe it could be the operator? I have a Tesco Mobile xD (satisfaction). It's also annoying when you turn it off and on again and the passwords are deleted and you have to save several dozen passwords again :(
