Today's guide is dedicated to all novice users who have not yet fully grasped Apple's iProducts, have no experience with iTunes and do not yet know how to upload music to their device using playlists.

When I bought my first Apple product, the iPhone 3G, less than two years ago, I had no experience with iTunes. It took me a long time to figure out how to upload music to my iPhone so that it would display properly in the iPod app.

At that time, I didn't know any websites dedicated to Apple products, so I had no choice but to try, try and try. Finally, like every other user, I figured out how to solve this problem. But it took me some time and cost some of my nerves. To save you the trouble of doing it by trial and error, here's a how-to guide.

We will need:

  • iDevice
  • iTunes
  • music stored on your computer.

Approach:

1. Connecting the device

Connect your device to your computer. If iTunes didn't start automatically, start it manually.

2. Creating a playlist

Now you need to create a playlist or list of music that you want to upload to your iPhone/iPod/iPad/Apple TV. To create a playlist, click the + icon in the lower left corner and the playlist is created. You can also create it using the menu file/create playlist (shortcut command+N on Mac).

3. Transfer of music

Name the created playlist appropriately. Then open your music folder on your computer. Now all you have to do is drag and drop your chosen music albums into the created playlist in iTunes.

4. Editing albums in the playlist

I would like to point out to new users that it is important to have the individual albums correctly named and numbered (as you can see in the image below). It can then happen that they are not displayed properly on your iPod or, for example, four albums from completely different artists are mixed together, which can spoil the impression when listening to your favorite music.

To name individual albums, right click on a song in the playlist and select "Get info" and then the "Info" tab. Red circles highlight fields that should be filled in correctly.

Using the same procedure, it is possible to edit entire albums at once (after marking all the songs in the album).

5. Synchronization

After editing the albums in the playlist, we are ready to sync iTunes with your device. Click on your device in the "Devices" list in iTunes. Then click on the Music tab. Check Sync Music. Now we have two options to choose from, one is "Entire music library" which means you will download all the music from your iTunes library to your device and the second option we will use now is "Selected playlists, artists, albums and genres". In the list of playlists, we select the one we created. And we click the Sync button.

6. Done

After syncing is complete, you can disconnect your device and look at your iPod. Here you will see the albums you have recorded.

I hope the tutorial helped you and saved you a lot of trouble. If you have any suggestions for other iTunes related tutorials, feel free to leave a comment below the article.
