Apple's operating system update to iOS 7 is here. We have prepared a simple guide for you on how to back up and restore your data and start with the new operating system exactly where you left off with the old one.
Backing up your data is a very practical and recommended step. There are two options to perform this backup. The first one is using iCloud. This is a very simple and reliable solution that requires nothing more than your iPhone or iPad, an Apple ID, an activated iCloud, and a Wi-Fi connection. Just turn on the settings and select the iCloud item in it. After that, you need to scroll down and select Storage and Backups. Now there's a Backup button at the bottom of the screen that will take care of everything you need, so you just have to wait for the process to complete. The display shows the percentage status and the time until the end of the backup.
The second option is to back up via iTunes on your computer. Connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer and launch iTunes. The smart thing is to save your photos, on Mac simply via iPhoto, on Windows via the AutoPlay menu. Another good thing to do is to transfer your purchases from the App Store, iTunes, and iBookstore to iTunes. Again, this is a very simple matter. Just select the menu in the iTunes window File → Device → Transfer purchases from device. After completing this task, it is enough to click on the menu of your iOS device in the sidebar and use the button Back up. The status of the backup can be monitored again in the upper part of the window.
After a successful backup, you can safely install a new operating system. It must be selected in the phone or tablet settings General → Software Update and then download the new iOS. In order for the download to be possible, you must have enough free memory on your device. After a successful download, it is very easy to go through the installation to the successful end. The whole process can be done again through iTunes, but everything is more complicated, more data needs to be downloaded and you need to have the current version of iTunes released a few moments ago. iTunes in version 11.1 is also required for the subsequent synchronization of the device with iOS 7, so of course we recommend downloading this version.
After installation, you must first go through the language, Wi-Fi and location services settings. You will then be presented with a screen where you can choose whether to start your iPhone or iPad as a new device or restore it from a backup. In the case of the second option, all system settings and individual applications will be restored. All your applications will also be installed gradually, even with the original icon layout.
Has anyone managed to download it yet? :D
maximum shorts today :-D today it's the turn of the friends, I'm looking forward to tomorrow
And updating ios 7 beta to ios 7 final? It does not offer an update
I'm also wondering how the devices are doing in Dev. program, I have both an iPad and an iPhone on Beta 6, I didn't download GM to wait for the sharp version, but OTA and iTunes offer me nothing.
I'm the same way. I have beta 6 and I haven't downloaded GM, I'll wait for ofi but it doesn't show anything. And I don't really want to restore :/ I just wish I could find the ipsw file, but that will probably take a long time...
I have GM installed. In order to get it onto the device at all, I had to install iTunes 11.1 Beta 2. Now I am in a trap because not only can I not update the iPhone 5 with GM, but the iPhone 4s with standard iOS 6 does not work either. iTunes says that an update is available, but it is need to install iTunes 11.1. Cleverly, I immediately ask if I want to update iTunes, even if I confirm that I want to. Oops, the lovely voice "No updates available" jumps out at me. So the boys from Cupertino didn't debug this.
Um, I had the iOS7 beta and it doesn't offer anything, just manually updating ITunes :o(. Does anyone know how to get the current NE beta iOS7 on an iPhone?
So iPhone 5 upgraded from GM to current iOS7. Finally, I downloaded the firmware from the dev center and installed it via iTunes (beta).
The problem with 4s (iOS6) still persists. OTA fails. iOS7 will download but when trying to update it says “Software update not available. Please try again later" as I read below. It doesn't work through iTunes beta, because the system claims that I have to update iTunes, and on the contrary, iTunes persistently claims that they are up to date. I'm downloading iOS 7 for 4s from the dev center, so hopefully it will work similarly to Petka. No matter what, iTunes is calling me out.
unnecessary work GM and what you installed are both labeled 7.0(11A465)
Yeah, I noticed that too. Unfortunately, after installation. ;-)
LOL. And is it such a problem to install itunes manually? From Apple.com?
What does it mean it downloads more data via iTunes? So is there a difference between downloading iOS7 via iTunes or via the iPhone menu?
so is the GM version complete? the same, if a new update is released from apple, 7.2 will the gm version already be updated?
How much space do you need on your iPhone?
2,9gb
Oh, I don't have that much :-D I have 2,34 days off... oh, I'm going to delete :-/
May I ask if there is any way to put ios 7 into the iPod touch 4g?
Hell, don't you know if the new iTunes radio is available for the Czech Republic?????
it's not :/
how do I stay on the beta?! My iPhone doesn't exist in iTunes and the iPhone is Beta current ios 7
if you have GM, you have the same version as they are now downloading 7.0 (11A465), so it is up to date. You must have iTunes 11.1. and will exist
I can't find the iPhone in iTunes
It says I don't have permission to download ios 7
Successfully downloaded and installed on iPad 2 and iPhone 4 :) No problem at all.
Downloaded and installed on iPhone 5 - fully functional. Backup from iCloud - everything OK. Without iTunes.
so the update was downloaded on the iP5 in 30 minutes and everything runs great and I would say that even faster I am satisfied, moreover 3D mark showed me an even higher benchmark from 5460 > 6035 Well great, I feel sorry for those who have problems, but it was clear that the servers would be overloaded and those who do not have a fast connection will have problems, on the iP5 the update was 795 MB
I have a 100mbit internet connection. it's probably something else. I don't understand how it takes 30 minutes for someone and 16 hours for me.
I don't understand that either :-), but then connectivity to Apple's servers probably decides. it also told me first 13 minutes, then 23, then 37, and then it went quite quickly and jumped back to 22 minutes. So this one is somewhere between heaven and earth :-)
It was writing to me on the i5 the whole time there were 2 hours left (about 35 minutes) and then suddenly boom, the update is being prepared and it's already running.. so I'm curious.. I'm still waiting for the iPad mini, but I'll probably leave it for tomorrow :)
have it done stupidly. it probably depends on which server it gets to. I stopped it, started it again and it suddenly said 2 minutes :-) and the progress bar went to 100%. it probably got somewhere free. so if it doesn't work, it pays to stop and start again. installation is now underway...
I'm going to the iPad mini now
iPad mini cannot be updated, your software is current 6.1.3 what is it? that only iPhones should have it??
So downloaded via iTunes, no hiccups at all, just took a while. Now I'm fully testing it and the first unpleasant impression - the login screen for entering the codes freezes, sometimes after the first 2 digits, sometimes right at the beginning, it takes about 10 seconds, then all the digits are clicked at once and the phone opens, but it's ok* . Oh, and it's an iPhone 4S.
Yeah, it's generally keyboard issues. Texting is giving birth. Anyone having a similar problem with the 4S?
Great, resetting all settings fixed the problem. Now just to set everything back again... I hate to say it, but it reminds me so much of the Redmont creations...
IP4 - so I managed to download it after about 20 attempts and after clicking the download button I didn't even have to touch it, it installed completely by itself, I didn't even have to restore from the backup and I have everything there, I don't understand:)..it works perfectly normal and I'm really enjoying it so far, including the new settings center on the lock screen….cool
Hello,
I have a problem with the fact that I was already using iOS7 beta version. My last update loaded to beta 6 and nothing since then. Any idea how to get an official release?
Díky
is there anyone here who also likes it on IP4?? :-)) or is it just my problem again? :D I can't write, it crashes and it's terribly slow :(( oh yeah...
Hi, when I'm off wifi, it works great... as soon as I'm on the net it crashes in a terrible style, I tried restoring the iphone, I reinstalled it but still nothing... it looks like I have to go back
Hi, thank you for your response. Well, in the end I risked restoring all the settings (I was afraid that everything would be deleted from my phone) and it turned out well. It doesn't crash anymore and it works like before the update.
I have reset the data and deleted the settings and it is definitely not like with iOS6. I have an iP4.
It probably won't be like before, but I'm happy that I can at least write :))
Hi, I have the same problem. Anything I try to run takes longer. In some games, where previously the movement was smooth, it now chops. I reverted from iOs 7 back to 6. I'll see in time. Damage. otherwise I was satisfied.
hello, please, I have a problem.. when I back up everything, etc. and then I go to update the software, I don't have 7 there.. how much free memory do I have to have to be able to install ios7??? (i need it on ipod touch)
Hello, I have a problem, everything is almost installed, it says update complete, there are a few steps left and it's done...CONTINUE...I let it continue and it wants me to connect to ITunes and then I don't know what to do with it, could someone give me some advice, please, I'm doing it all over night and I don't really know what he said thanks
