You must have already noticed on your Mac that when you take screenshots, a small preview of the image appears in the lower right corner, which you can edit in various ways and further work with it. If you click on it, you can edit and annotate the image in various ways before saving it. If you right-click on it, you will see additional options for saving the screenshot. At the same time, you can immediately share this preview anywhere, for example on Facebook - just drag it into the chat window. The screenshot preview function is practically a new feature, since it has been in macOS since version 10.14 Mojave, which is almost a year old operating system. However, not everyone has to be satisfied with the preview view. So let's see how you can turn it off.

How to turn off screenshot preview on Mac

First, you need to go to the application on your macOS device, i.e. Mac or MacBook Screenshot. You can do so through Application, where the application Screenshot located in the folder Utility. You can also move to the application simply by pressing a keyboard shortcut Command + Shift + 5. Once you do so, a small screen capture interface will appear on your desktop. In this case, you are interested in the option Elections, which you click on. Various options will appear, for example whether you want to record sound as well, or where the resulting file should be saved. However, you are interested in the option at the bottom of the menu with the name Show floating thumbnail. If there is a whistle next to this option, there are screenshot previews active. If you want them cancel, so for this option only click.

Once you turn off the display of screenshots, you will no longer have the option to quickly share, edit, or annotate them. In short and simply, as in the case of older operating systems, the screenshot is saved on the desktop, or in another location that you have set. If you would like to reactivate the display of the screenshot preview, you just need to proceed exactly the same as in the previous paragraph - just make sure that there will be a whistle next to the function Show floating thumbnail.
