Within the macOS operating system, just like in iOS or iPadOS, you can set various functions that can help you with writing. Specifically, there is an option for automatic spelling correction or setting capital letters, or adding a period after pressing a double space or recommendations for writing on the Touch Bar. Most users use these functions mainly on the iPhone and iPad, with the fact that they automatically turn them off on the Mac, as they can often get pretty messy. Anyway, in this article we will focus on quotation marks. Mac does not write them correctly in Czech by default. Instead of the first quotation mark at the bottom and the next one at the top, he writes both at the top, which can be a problem for some. In this article, we'll show you how to change this preference.

How to set the correct writing of Czech quotation marks on Mac

If you would like to set the correct writing of Czech quotation marks on your macOS device, it is not difficult. However, users often overlook this option or have no idea that it exists. The procedure to change this preference is as follows:

  • First, you need to tap on the top left on your Mac icon .
  • Once you do so, select an option from the menu that appears System Preferences…
  • This will open a window with all available sections for changing preferences.
  • In this window, locate and click on the section named Keyboard.
  • Now move to the tab in the top menu Text.
  • Then, in the right part of the window, pay attention to the options for double quotes a for single quotes.
  • Click on each option dropdown menu and select the correct entry in it.

Once you change the quote preference above, the changes are automatically applied. No need to restart your Mac or take any other action. Now, if you type the first quote, it will automatically be placed at the bottom, and when you want to type the second quote, it will automatically appear at the top. If you have problems with writing quotation marks, I recommend that you still v System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Text disabled possibility Use smart quotes and dashes – sometimes this function can make a mess.
