If you are interested in the happenings in the world of Apple, you surely know that a few days ago we saw the official release of macOS Monterey to the public. This means that all new Apple operating systems are finally available to all users who own a supported device. We already saw the presentation of the latest operating systems at the developer conference WWDC21, which took place this June. Specifically, in addition to macOS Monterey, Apple presented iOS and iPadOS 15, watchOS 8 and tvOS 15. These last four systems have been available to the public for several weeks, but we had to wait for macOS Monterey. In our magazine, we will continue to focus on improvements from the latest systems, but now we will focus mainly on macOS 12 Monterey.

How to set the top bar to show even in full screen mode on Mac

If you go into full screen mode on your Mac, which you do by clicking the green ball in the upper left corner of the window, the top bar will automatically hide if you want the menu bar. If you would like to display the top bar again, it is necessary that you move the cursor to the top of the screen, from where the top bar simply comes out. However, this may not suit some users, as this will hide the menus, as well as, for example, the time and application controls. The good news for those users is that in macOS Monterey, they can finally set the top bar to not hide in full screen mode, as follows:

  • First, in the upper left corner of the screen, tap on icon .
  • Once you do so, select from the menu that appears System Preferences…
  • Subsequently, a new window will appear with all available sections for editing preferences.
  • In this window, find and click on the section named Dock and menu bar.
  • Then make sure you are in the section in the sidebar Dock and menu bar.
  • In the end, you just need to in the lower part of the window deactivated possibility Automatically hide and show menu bar in full screen.

So, using the above procedure, you can make the top bar appear in full screen mode on Mac. This means that the top bar will remain visible at all times, whether you open virtually any application in full-screen mode. However, it is necessary to mention that if you perform the above procedure, it may not appear immediately for some applications. But in such a case, it is enough to close the application completely and then start it again, or you can restart the system, which will make the Mac aware the fastest. Personally, I was most annoyed by not being able to see the time in full screen mode and losing track of it, which is finally a thing of the past.
