In addition to the new operating systems, Apple also introduced the "new" iCloud+ service a few weeks ago. This service is available to all users who subscribe to iCloud and therefore do not use the free plan. iCloud+ includes several different functions that can even better protect your privacy and strengthen Internet security. Specifically, these are mainly functions called Private Relay, together with Hide my e-mail. Some time ago, we covered both of these functions in our magazine and showed how they work.

How to (de)activate Private Transfer on Mac

In addition to macOS Monterey, Private Transfer is also available in iOS and iPadOS 15. It is a security feature that takes care of protecting users' privacy. Private Transfer can hide your IP address, your browsing information in Safari, and your location from network providers and websites. Thanks to this, no one can find out who you actually are, where you are located and possibly which pages you visit. In addition to the fact that neither providers nor websites will be able to track your movement on the Internet, no information will be transferred to Apple either. If you would like to (de)activate Private Transfer on Mac, proceed as follows:

  • First, in the upper left corner of the screen, tap on icon .
  • Then select from the menu that appears System Preferences…
  • A new window will open with all available sections for managing preferences.
  • In this window, find and click on the section named Apple ID.
  • Once you have done so, go to the tab in the left part of the window iCloud.
  • Subsequently, it is enough that you They have (de)activated private transmission.

However, you can also click on the Options... button located on the right. Subsequently, another window will appear in which you can (de)activate Private transmission, and you can also reset your location according to your IP address. You can use either general location derived from your IP address, so that websites in Safari can provide you with local content, or you can go to broader location determination by IP address, from which only the country and time zone can be found. It should be noted that Private Transmission is still in beta, so there may be some bugs. For example, we often encounter the fact that when Private Transfer is active, the Internet transmission speed drops significantly, or the Internet may not work at all for some time.
