In my opinion, most users of all laptops these days fall into two camps. Some are simply taught to click on the trackpad by touching it. The other camp, those who use MacBooks, are used to having to press down on the trackpad until it "physically clicks" to click. I personally fall into the latter camp, as I've gotten really used to the trackpad clicking, and whenever I have to use a device other than my MacBook, other trackpads feel really unnatural to me. On the other hand, my girlfriend can't get used to the MacBook clicking. So if you can't get used to physical clicking on your MacBook, then read this guide. We're going to show you how to easily enable tap-to-click.

How to activate the tap-to-click feature

  • In the left corner of the top bar, click on apple-logo
  • We select an option from the menu System Preferences…
  • We select an option from the newly opened window Trackpad
  • If we are not already in the tab Pointing and clicking, so we'll move into it
  • Now we will allow the third function from the top, namely Click click

If you choose to activate this feature, you will now also be able to perform secondary taps (clicking the right mouse button) with just a touch of two fingers, instead of just pressing the trackpad.
