VPN service has been a hotly debated topic lately. However, if you enter the term "VPN" into the Google search, you will rather "come up" with a lot of ads and sites that sell VPN services. The interesting pages that actually explain what you can use a VPN for are on other pages, which is a shame in my opinion. Through this article, I will try to tell you from my own experience what I have already used a VPN for, and also what it can serve you in other situations. We'll also take a look at some apps that you can use with your VPN service - without ads, and also without anyone paying us for said apps.

What exactly is a VPN?

VPN - Virtual Private Network - virtual private network. This term probably doesn't tell you much, but short and simple, VPN takes care of your security in most cases. It covers your IP address and above all where you are. A few years ago, when the boom called Dark Web or Deep Web broke out, you had to use a browser called Tor (Onion) to view Dark Web pages. Because Tor itself has a VPN, which protects you from potential attackers. Some services work by changing your location every few seconds, with other services you choose which country you want to connect to. For example, if you choose the location Switzerland, all other Internet users see you as a computer from Switzerland, even though you are actually physically sitting at home in the Czech Republic.

Use of VPN

There are really many ways you can use a VPN. As I mentioned once, a VPN takes care of your security first and foremost. At home, where you are connected to a known Wi-Fi network, you do not need to use a VPN. However, if you are in shopping malls, cafes, or anywhere else where Wi-Fi connection is available without a password, then a VPN can come in handy. After you connect to a public Wi-Fi network, its admin is able to track your every move. The pages you visit, what device you have, or even your name. However, if you use a VPN before connecting, it will at least make it difficult, in most cases impossible, to find out your identity.

Many people also use VPNs when they want to access websites that are only available to certain countries. Suppose there was a website JenProSlovensko.cz that only Slovaks could access. We in the Czech Republic would be unlucky. In order to get to this page, we could use a VPN service. In the application, we would set our location to Slovakia and we would therefore be on the Internet as a computer from Slovakia. This would allow us to gain access to the JenProSlovensko.cz website, even if we are physically located in the Czech Republic or another country.

VPN is also used in mobile games and everything related to them. Occasionally, some games will feature a special reward or item that is only available in a certain country. People who don't live in this country are out of luck. Of course, it is foolish to buy a plane ticket and "fly" for a special item. Therefore, all you have to do is use a VPN, set your location to the desired country and choose a special reward. We can encounter a similar case in the game Call of Duty: Mobile, which is currently only available in Australia. Simply set your VPN location to Australia, switch to the Australian App Store, and you can download Australian-only Call of Duty: Mobile even if you're physically located in another country.

How to use VPN services?

There are really countless applications and companies that offer VPNs. Some apps are free, while others are paid. As a rule, paid applications work without a problem. With the free ones, you may encounter outages or other problems. However, I personally didn't pay a penny for the VPN and got what I needed every time. Now let's take a look at some apps that you can use for VPN mediation.

NordVPN

You might be familiar with NordVPN, even if you don't actually know what a VPN is. In the past, NordVPN has appeared in several YouTube ads, including various recommendations from YouTubers. However, I have to say that NordVPN is truly the best in its field and offers qualities that you could only dream of competing apps. Stability, connection speed and security - that's NordVPN. You will also be pleased with the fact that NordVPN's headquarters are located in Panama. What's so great about it, you ask? Panama is one of the few countries that does not collect, analyze and share information and other data about its citizens. This way you are 100% sure of security and anonymity.

You pay for quality, which means that NordVPN ranks among the paid alternatives. You have to subscribe to NordVPN, specifically for 329 crowns per month, 1450 crowns for half a year, or 2290 crowns per year. In addition to iOS, NordVPN is also available on Mac, Windows, Linux, and Android.

tunnel Bear

Right after NordVPN, I could recommend TunnelBear, which is suitable for families or individuals who like to travel. At the same time, TunnelBear can also work with streaming services, such as Netflix, etc. At the same time, you can have up to 5 active connections on one account. Compared to other applications that offer VPN, TunnelBear has connections to around 22 countries. NordVPN has servers in 60 countries for comparison.

TunnelBear is available in both a free version and a paid version. You get the option of using a VPN connection for free, but with a transfer limit of 500 MB of data per month. If you would like to purchase TunnelBear, you can do so for 269 crowns per month, or 1550 crowns per year.

UFOVPN

The free alternative in the form of UFO VPN gained its popularity mainly because of the servers that are intended for mobile games. As I mentioned above, you can also use VPN services if you want to play Call of Duty: Mobile, which is currently only available in Australia. After downloading UFO VPN, you can easily set up a server directly for Call of Duty, with which you can play the new game right now. However, you can also use UFO VPN for all other purposes. If you are looking for a free VPN, I can only recommend UFO VPN. Of course, paid servers are also available, but you don't have to use them.

záver

There are literally all kinds of ways you can use a VPN. Whether you want to protect your privacy and security, whether you want to connect to a special website that is not available with us, or whether you want to collect special rewards in games - there is a VPN for you. Which VPN provider you choose is entirely up to you. Just beware of rogue apps that may pretend to be a VPN, but actually collect even more data about you than if you weren't on a VPN. These are mostly free alternatives or applications that look suspicious at first glance.
