Personal Hotspot is an absolutely great feature that allows you to share the Internet with other devices "over the air" using Wi-Fi, if of course you have mobile data included in your plan. On the iPhone, personal hotspot can be activated very easily - just go to Settings, where you click the box personal hotspot, and then this function simply activate. You can tell that there is an active hotspot on your iPhone, and that a device is connected to it, by the fact that the background turns blue in the upper left corner of the screen (the top bar on older devices), where the time is located. Unfortunately, it is not easy to find out who specifically is connected to your hotspot.

Despite the fact that most users have a password set for their hotspot, why are we going to lie - not all of us have a goddamn strong password set for the hotspot, and it often has the form "12345". For other people who are around you, it can be very easy to crack the hotspot password. At the same time, it is simply useful to have an overview of who is connected to your hotspot, so that you do not quickly exhaust your precious mobile data. The application was created precisely because of these and many other situations Network Analyzer. You can use it to display a list of devices that are connected to your hotspot or home Wi-Fi. This application is available absolutely free and is very simple to use.

How to find out who is connected to your hotspot or home Wi-Fi on iPhone

If you want to find out who is connected to your hotspot or home Wi-Fi, proceed as follows:

  • First, of course, it is necessary that you have active hotspot, or to be connected to a certain Wi-Fi access.
  • After that it is necessary that you application Network Analyzer turned on.
  • Now move to the section in the bottom menu LAN.
  • Once you're here, just click on the button in the top right scan.
  • It will then take place network scan, which can last several tens of seconds.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will be displayed to you list of all devices, along with theirs IP addresses, which are connected to your hotspot or Wi-Fi.

You are probably wondering now if there is any way to force disconnect these devices in this case. Unfortunately, it doesn't exist and the only option is to do it password change. You can change the hotspot password in Settings -> Personal hotspot -> Wi-Fi password, in the case of home Wi-Fi, you can reset the password in router interface, which Wi-Fi broadcasts.

We're not going to lie, Personal Hotspot is slightly unfinished within iOS and loses quite a bit compared to the competing interface of this service. While on some Android devices you can easily see who is connected to the hotspot directly in the settings, and you can even disconnect the device from your network, in iOS we don't have any of these options and the existing connection is only shown by a blue background in the top parts of the screen. Unfortunately, it looks like we won't see hotspot improvements in iOS 14. So let's hope that Apple will bring changes and new features related to hotspot in iOS 15 or in one of the earlier updates.
