How to turn on the percentage of the battery on the iPhone is a procedure that is sought by practically all users who want to have an overview of the current exact state of battery charge. On older iPhones with Touch ID, the display of the battery percentage in the top bar has been available since ancient times, but as for the newer iPhones with Face ID, on those you had to open the control center to display the battery percentage, so the battery status was not permanently visible in the top bar. Apple stated that there was not enough space next to the cutouts of the Apple phones to display the percentage of battery charge, but once the iPhone 13 (Pro) was released with smaller cutouts, nothing changed. The change finally came in iOS 16.

How to turn on battery percentage on iPhone

In the new operating system iOS 16, Apple finally came up with the ability to display the battery status in percentages in the top bar on all iPhones, including those with Face ID. The user can have the percentage of charge displayed directly in the battery icon, which is located in the top bar - in reality, Apple could have come up with this gadget as early as five years ago. However, the problem so far has been that this novelty was not available for all iPhones, namely the XR, 11, 12 mini and 13 mini models were missing from the list of supported devices. Anyway, the good news is that absolutely all iPhones are already supported in the latest iOS 16.1. You can activate the display of the battery status in percentage as follows:

  • First, go to the native app on your iPhone Settings.
  • Once you do, slide down a piece below, where find and click the section Battery.
  • Here you only need to switch to the top activated function Battery status.

It is therefore possible to activate the display of the battery status in percentage on your iPhone with Face ID in the above-mentioned way. If you don't see the option above, make sure you have the latest iOS 16.1 installed, otherwise this gadget is not available. In iOS 16.1, Apple improved the indicator in general - in particular, in addition to the percentage of charge, it also displays the status with the icon itself, so that it does not always appear as fully charged. When low power mode is activated, the battery icon turns yellow, and when the battery level drops below 20%, the icon turns red.
