While a few years ago we only used cables to project images, this is no longer the case nowadays. If you use Apple devices, you can also use AirPlay, through which it is possible to project the image completely wirelessly with a few taps. You can run AirPlay from virtually any Apple device, including TVs that support it. This is ideal, for example, if you want to project photos, videos or music on a device with a larger screen or better speakers. As part of the new operating systems, i.e. iOS and iPadOS 15 and macOS Monterey, you are now also able to use AirPlay on Mac.

How to use AirPlay on Mac on iPhone

Thanks to the possibility of using AirPlay on a Mac, you will be able to project images and sound from, for example, an iPhone or iPad onto the screen of your Mac or MacBook. Of course, an Apple computer is not a television, but it still has a much larger screen than a small iPhone or iPad. For example, viewing photos or playing videos is much better on the Mac screen, not to mention playing music. If you would like to use AirPlay on Mac to play content, just follow these steps:

  • First it is necessary that on your iPhone opened the control center:
    • iPhone with Touch ID: swipe up from the bottom edge of the display;
    • iPhone with Face ID: swipe down from the top right edge of the display.
  • Then pay attention to the top right tile with playback.
  • In this tile, tap in the upper right corner the AirPlay icon.
  • Once you do so, it will appear interface for controlling AirPlay.
  • Finally, it is enough here that below in the category Reproducers and TVs tap your Mac.

Through the above procedure, it is possible to use AirPlay on Mac on your iPhone or iPad. Of course, in this case it is necessary that the Mac is unlocked and connected to the same Wi-Fi. Not in every case, but you may want to transfer only the music or videos being played via AirPlay. As I mentioned above, sometimes we want to use AirPlay to project, for example, photos. To do this, go to the Photos app and then search share icon (square with an arrow).
