If you follow the events in the apple world, you certainly did not miss the introduction of new operating systems from Apple a few months ago. Specifically, at the WWDC21 developer conference, we saw the introduction of iOS and iPadOS 15, macOS 12 Monterey, watchOS 8 and tvOS 15. All of these new operating systems were first available as part of beta versions for developers and testers. Some time ago, however, Apple released these systems to the public, with the exception of macOS 12 Monterey, which will be released to the public in a few days. We're always covering new features and improvements from these new systems at our magazine, and in this article we'll take a look at another option from iOS 15.

How to (de)activate the synchronization of the start page across all devices on the iPhone in Safari

If you are one of the individuals who, in addition to an iPhone, also owns a Mac, you probably know that Apple introduced significant changes in the field of design in last year's macOS 11 Big Sur, both in the system and in applications. Among other things, the Safari browser also received a major design change. Within it, you can even set a start screen on your Mac that will show you selected elements to use for quick access or to display certain information. It would somehow make sense if such a start page was also available within iOS or iPadOS, but the opposite has been true until now. Fortunately, we waited until the arrival of iOS and iPadOS 15, so you can customize the start screen in Safari even on iPhone or iPad. You might also be interested in how to (de)activate the synchronization of the homepage across all devices. The procedure is as follows:

  • First, on your iOS 15 iPhone, go to the native app Safari.
  • Once you've done that, tap on in the bottom right corner two squares icon.
  • You will now find yourself in an interface with all panels open, where at the bottom left click on the + icon.
  • This will show you a new splash screen panel. Get off here all the way down.
  • Then click the button below Edit.
  • An interface will appear where you can edit the home page.
  • Finally, just use the switch (de)activate possibility Use the splash page on all devices.

So using the method above, on your iPhone with iOS 15, you can (de)activate the synchronization of the start page in Safari across all your devices. So if you activate this option, the exact same start page will be displayed on all your devices, i.e. iPhone, iPad and Mac, including the elements as such, their position or background. If, on the other hand, you want to set different start pages on individual devices, deactivate this function using the switch.
