Do you know how much active time you spend on your phone? Maybe you're just guessing. However, Screen Time on iPhone is a feature that displays information about your device usage, including which apps and websites you're on most often. It also allows the setting of limits and various restrictions, which is especially useful for parents. The telephone is, of course, a device primarily intended for communication. But sometimes it's too much, and sometimes you just want to not be disturbed by the world around you. You can turn off your iPhone, you can turn it on Airplane mode, activate Do Not Disturb mode, with iOS 15 also Focus mode or define Screen Time. In it, phone and FaceTime calls, messages and the use of maps are enabled by default, other applications are blocked so as not to disturb you. However, you can enable the ones you need to use.

How to set allowed apps

The system primarily counts with basic applications, but many of us communicate more via e.g. WhatsApp than the News title. You may also want to use apps to track your productivity, you may want to receive new emails, or be notified of your appointment times under the Calendar heading. You have to set all this manually.

  • Go to Settings
  • Open the menu Screen time.
  • Choose Always enabled.
  • Below you will see a list of applications from which select the ones you want to use.

So if you want to add an app that you will receive notifications from and that will update your status further, simply click on the green plus symbol next to it. Subsequently, it will be added to the list of titles mentioned above, which can inform you about events even if Quiet Time is turned on. On the menu Contact you can additionally specify those contacts with whom you do not want to communicate, even if you have the given communication platforms enabled. Just choose Specific contacts and select them from the list, or you can also add them manually.
