Apple is one of the few companies that truly cares about the security and privacy of its consumers. With the arrival of each new update of operating systems, we also see additional features that make us feel even more secure. In iOS 14, for example, we saw the ability to set the exact photos that apps have access to, along with other great features. For a long time now, within iOS and iPadOS, you can also set which apps can access your camera and microphone. In addition, the system can now also simply inform you when the camera or microphone is active. Let's see how to do it together.

How to manage apps that use the camera and microphone on iPhone

If you want to manage applications on your iPhone or iPad that have access to the camera or microphone, it is not difficult. Just follow the steps below:

  • First, you need to switch to the native app on your iOS or iPadOS device Settings.
  • Once you've done that, go down a notch below and locate the box Privacy, which you tap.
  • After moving to this section, find and click on the boxes in the list:
    • Camera to manage applications that have access to cameras;
    • Microphone to manage applications that have access to microphone.
  • After clicking on one of these sections, it will be displayed application list, where can manage settings.
  • If you want an app disable camera/microphone access, so you just need to switch the switch to inactive positions.

Of course, in this case it is necessary to think about which applications you deny access to the camera or microphone, and which access you allow. Obviously, a photo application will need access to both the camera and the microphone. On the other hand, access to the camera is not really needed by navigation applications, or perhaps various games, etc. So definitely think when (de)activating. At the same time, in iOS and iPadOS 14 we got a perfect new function, thanks to which you can immediately find out which application is currently using the camera/microphone. You can find out this fact using green or orange dots that appear in the upper part of the display – read more about this feature in the article below.
